I seem to recall seeing a feat somewhere that allowed you to use a reach weapon against adjacant foes, albeit at a penalty. Anyone have knowledge about this feat?

There is Short Haft from PHB2, which lets you switch between using your weapon normally or against adjacent opponents as a Swift action at the beginning of your turn, lasting until you change it again. No penalties to hit.

There is "Shorten Grip" from the Dragon Compendium which lets you hit things adjacent to you (not your weapon's normal reach) with a -2 penalty. It doesn't seem to require an action at all.

There is the common house rule that you can attack with the haft or butt of a weapon with a -4 penalty for an improvised weapon, dealing damage as a club or quarterstaff. Several variations exist.
