I just need a simple answer, it's either one thing or another.

If a player has a Rogue 6/assassin 1/shadowdancer 1 character,
would it have 4 BAB (+4 from 6 levels rogue, +0 from 1st level assassin, +0 from 1st level shadowdancer)
or would it have a BAB of 6 because all three classes have average BAB and at level 8 that would come to 6 BAB?

It's the first. You add each BAB from each class together.

I would just like to confirm that that is correct. Add what it says on the table from each together.

I believe in UA, there's a variant for fractional BABs, which would do that for you

UA's fractional BAB is a pretty good system, and their fractional save system is also fairly good. I use both in my game (though I came up with them independently) with some tweaking to the save end of things. Basically I take away double-dipping on the +2 boost at 1st level. That means that multi-class BAB's are usually higher (on par with a single class character of the same level) while the multi-class saves are lower (again, they are on par with single class saves).

Ah yea, found the fractional saves/BAB table in UA, thanks for that, I kinda like this system more than the normal so I'll go with this one if the players don't heavily object (which I doubt they will)
