So what do I do when a sorcerer takes the shadow magic feat from PGtF and can't cast all of his known spells anymore? Does he get to pick new ones, or is he always nerfed with less spells known? What would you folks do?

I don't know about you, but taking Shadow Weave Magic as a 1st-level feat and only transmutation and evocation spells isn't the greatest idea out there. You're basically screwing yourself over. Once your caster level reaches 2, it's no longer that bad an issue.

Sorcerors can swap out their old spells for new ones at higher levels - this is probably the best solution. However, what I'd do is not pick spells I couldn't cast in the first place. Another option is using PHBII retraining.

Yeah...this is really an NPC who is a little overpowered for an NPC. We are going through Cormyr/Shadowdale/(maybe)anarouch. I thought it would nerf him just a bit and make for a great plot later. I just don't want to nerf him to the point that the players know I nerfed him. They are already 5th level. I may just repick the bad spells. I was just wondering if I was missing something in the rules.
