| On_the_wings_of_TPK07-03-07, 01:02 AM | Ok so I have a dice jebus in my group who is playing a warblade. Is the extra damage granted by the tactical strike maneuver doubled, or trippled as the case may be, on a confirmed critical hit? What about other maneuvers? As always if you could explain and source your answer I would greatly appreciate that thanks. |
| Furion Thamior07-03-07, 01:06 AM | No. Just like sneak attacks, extra damage/ effects from maneuvers isn't multiplied on a critical hit. |
| On_the_wings_of_TPK07-03-07, 01:18 AM | No. Just like sneak attacks, extra damage/ effects from maneuvers isn't multiplied on a critical hit. But the extra damage from power attack is.... so is a maneuvers damage like power attack damage, or like sneak attack damage? And why? |
| WackyOne07-03-07, 06:42 AM | A manouver's damage is like sneak attack - even if it's a fixed amount, like the +100 damage strike. It's in the rules for manouvers... As for the why, I guess it's for balance, and to ease up the job for the developers: it's easier to balance manouvers when they only do what's written... much harder to see how they would work in a world where, 6 times out of 20, that manouver's effect is doubled (keen rapier)... or, every once in a while, it's applied 4 times (schyte). But the Average Joe only gets a crit of 19-20/x2 (longsword...). The developers slanted the system toward him, giving no additional influence to criticals (if you exclude one single stance ;)) |

| Kouk07-03-07, 08:38 AM | The description of Strikes, starting on the bottom of page 42 of ToB says You can make a critical hit with a strike, and in a few cases, a critical hit grants you additional benefits. You do not multiply extra damage from a strike with a successful critical hit. You treat it just as you would extra damage from another special ability, such as sneak attack. You can multiply the weapon damage, but not the effect of the strike. |
