| pmurray@bigpond.com04-11-08, 03:10 AM | The PHB II is not clear on this - can a character be a member of more than one team? Can each character be "leader" of one team, and memberships overlap? Or is it the case that each distinct subset of characters in the party is a potential team, making the total number of potential teams 2^N - N*(N-1)/2 - 1, with a potential number of teamwork benefits equal to 1 per four levels of the lowest character? Or is it the case that teams must be disjoint? If you are a member of one, you can't be a member of another? But that blows - why can't the 8th level arcane rogue be part of the stealth team for one thing and art of the arcane team for another? Or shall we say that every character can be a member of no more than one team per four character levels? This would make sense, I suppose. Say we had 8th level characters. team 1: "magic" - wiz, cleric, rog/wiz team 2: "stealth" - ranger, rog/wiz team 3: "healing" - ranger, cleric The book is really not all that clear. |

Everyone with a rank in survival can be a member of the Camp Routine team, and those with a rank in concentration can also be members of the Group Trance team (provided there are qualified team leaders). Party members can also be leaders of a team or teams. The same elf who is leader of the Group Trance team can also be leader of the Missile Volley team (provided he meets the requirements) while also being a member of the Camp Routine team. There are no limits on team membership/leadership other than the skill rank/feat/blood requirements for each. |

| pmurray@bigpond.com04-13-08, 01:49 AM | There are no limits on team membership/leadership other than the skill rank/feat/blood requirements for each. Then ... how t f does the "one benefit per four hit dice of the lowest member" work? I can be a member of 50 "teams", each with one benefit, provided that ... ok. Having re-read the rules, I think that it works like this. You can be in one and only one "team". A "team" is typically an adventuring party. A team may have a number of "tasks". The number of tasks that the team may have is equal to one per 4 HD of the lowest-level member. Any team member can be a task leader. But all members of the team must have the member prereq ... Oh, this blows. Why can't you break up into sub-teams for "Camp Routine (warriors)" and "Elvish meditation (spellcasters)", but have a single big team for "Crowded Charge"? Whay can't you have an 8-man team, but one of the members does not have the prereq for one of the tasks and so does not participate? The rules suck. They should be EITHER * a character is in only one team (teams are disjoint) * one task per four HD of the lowest member * if anyone does not meet a prereq for a task, then they do not participate, but that's cool OR * a character or NPC may participate in one task per four HD, but it must be with at least one other (and no more than seven other) participants - no tasks of one. * they must be leader or participant and meet the prereqs |
