FaithlessOfLux 12-03-07, 07:00 PM	I was lent Tome of Magic by a friend and I've been browsing it. I haven't delved very far yet but already I am confused. Firstly are all 3 types of magic arcane? Secondly does this mean they are subject to arcane spell chance failure? Does truename magic have any somatic components. Pictures indicate that they do. If they aren't arcane are they still subject to anti-magic auras and such.
Sosthenes 12-04-07, 06:03 AM	IIRC they all count as arcane magic. Binders don't cast spells, they gain spell-like abilities, so armor doesn't factor in at all. The same is true for mysteries, once they count as spell-like or supernatural. Early on, they do require somatic components and thus are subject to ASF.

If they aren't arcane are they still subject to anti-magic auras and such. 1st- If you wanna get technical, they are all the same 'magic'. It's just differnet system to understand them. To make an analogy. Electricy & magnatism are the same fundamental force, but using 2 different systmes to undertsand them. 2nd- Truespeaking is a purely verbal art.. the ToM specifically says so. I think they pictures are just here to be pretty =)
