| milo_underhill12-08-07, 10:06 PM | I have a game that has an undead villian and cohorts and I am looking for advice on which turning rules to use. I am considering the following: 1: use the standard 3.5 rules, Advanatage: All of the turning feats apply. Disadvantage: clunky system to use limited # of undead affected 2: use the Variant rule from the complete Divine p. 87 Advantage: simple system to use d6/level positive energy damage can effect more creatures Disavantage: Some turning feats do not work/fit with this version and need to be modified 3. use theVariant rule from (unearthed Arcana p.66 ) Advantage: more like traditional turning system uses a level check system supports most turning feats Disadvantages: empower turning feat needs revised. please give me your thoughts Thanks |

I also hated that turned undead run away, meaning the GM is *supposed to* keep track of their whereabouts. And of course, the fact that anything you can turn reliably is too weak to be a real threat anyway. |
| strenoth12-09-07, 06:53 PM | The only downside, which I only noticed recently, is that the variant in CD is only 30', compared to the 60' of the normal version. But I've also seen what a cleric can occasionally do to a horde with this version of turning, and it ashes lesser undead quite nicely. |
