Meddros 03-27-08, 05:29 PM	OK I have a situation with a player using a magic item (be it scroll, wand, rod, staff, you name it) in this case it's a wand. He is a Warforge Artificer from the Eberron Campaign and he is using an alternative racial class level found in the "Races of Eberron" book on page 129 that grants him an ability called "Tools of War". It allows his character when imbuing an Infusion onto another Construct or even himself to not only the infusions powers but also heal the target for amount of damage set by the ability. This is not a problem but my player is arguing that even if he imbues the infusion from a wand or any other magic item he is still considered the one doing the imbuing and thusly his ability to heal is allowed. I swear there are rules that state when someone uses a scroll/wand or any other magic item they are not actually casting the spell itself. There for any special abilities the character using the wand would not go into it. Like a Wizard of 15th level using a wand of Magic missile made by a 6th level Wizard. The high level Wizard does not augment the wand so that it casts out the amount of magic missiles appropriate to his level. It only shoots out the number of missile that the creator made it with. At least this is my understanding. So I turn to all of you to either help me come to grips with this rule or show me where it states the player can get away with it. Thanks for nay help.
Ace_of_time 03-27-08, 06:05 PM	If he is using a wand then he is casting a spell not using a infusion. They ability only works on HIS infusions not spells.
Lilinthra 03-28-08, 09:27 AM	Indeed. Scrolls, wands, and the like can not hold infusions. I think a schema or minor schema would be the only gray area for the feat (someone else will have to look up their description).
