$1000 of manuels!?? What D&D books have you collected? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Here's a question for all you hard core gamers out there. What 3.0 and 3.5 D&D books have you collected?

I'm a gamer from way back and I still have a nice collection of OD&D stuff from the mid-late 80s. Back then you didn't need to go and buy $1000 worth of manuels so you could feel you had access to the complete rules.

I'm not a hardcore gamer anymore and my 3E collection consists of the PH, DMG, & MM.

But seriously, I want to know. How extensive are people's D&D collections these days? Are there people out there who literally buy almost every accessory? What 3.0 and 3.5 books have you collected?

For D&D 3.0/3.5

I own every single WoTC 3.0 D&D Book and every 3.5 book save for the new Psi Handbook and Complete Warrior. It seems bad, but then I look at my other game collections

2ed AD&D

I own every single Ravenloft book or game accessory, I also own every single Dragonlance game accessory (save for the Hardcover) and about half of the Forgotten Realms stuff, oh and every Darksun Accessory as well. I think that I have some sort of collector compulsion to complete a series of items, maybe I need counseling?

And here I thought I had quite a few books...yeesh. Before 3.5 all I owned was the PhB and FRCS, since I was never DM...but now I always am...PhB 3eD is on loan to a friend who doesn't have the 3.5 stuff...I have to correct him sometimes, but better than nothing.

In order of how they're stacked right now...

Complete Warrior

Being a collecting fiend myself, I've got 6 bookshelves, 7ft high, 4ft long, and 1.5ft wide with 5 shelves each that contain my roleplaying library. I have one empty shelf.

I'll have to dig up the inventory I did for my insurance company last year with the titles on it, but I'm pretty sure there at least a thousand or so books in there. As for the percentage of D&D specific books, including my Dragon & Dungeon Magazines, there are 12 shelves dedicated to them.

Sometimes, I look in there and think...that unit could have been a Harley, that unit a home theater system, that unit...and I cry.

But then I remember how much joy and fun they've brought me over the years and will continue to bring me for years to come.

With my discovery of the amount of money that paintball sucks from your wallet, my collection of D&D is suffering a slowdown. My 3.0/3.5 collection doesn't even begin to catch up with my 2E stuff.

All 5 class books

I don't feel like typing all the names of the books but between me and 3 other poeple I play with we have atleast 3 copies of every 3.0 and 3.5 book. We also have 2 complete sets of FR books, and one guy has every book since 1e and every issue of Dragon, he's a bit of a collector.

I myself have a few 3.0 accessory books and all the 3.5 books and plan to buy them as they come out.

Needless to say this is not something to always brag about. We have more arguements about what books we are including in our campaigns then it is worth.

Kem wins, by far. Holy that is amazing! You must have at least one full bookcase. :tiphat:

I personally own a whole pile of basic, 1st and 2nd edition stuff and my 3rd edition collection consists of just about every 3rd edition book except for those with the name Andy Collins on the front cover. I'm working on my forgotten realms collection even though I never play it, and never plan to. (It's just fun to read ;) ). I own no 3.5, and never will.

I am most fond of my 2E spell compendiums and encyclopedia magica.

Hehe, Its about a bookcase and then some (3.0/3.5) prolly a bookcase and a fileing cabinet.

However, I have another bookcase in the basement of 2e/1e books, and a few boxes of books for things I don't use/are doubles.

Back when my dad was really into it he bought 2 of each book so he and my mom could have their own so I ended up putting one of each in a box because I only use one and he has all the books he wants with him (my mom doesn't play anymore).

Also the only reason I had that list is I typed it up one day when trying to figure out which book was missing :)

Then I found "Ultimate Equipment Guide" in my husbands backpack.

Although I have gotten more selective recently in what I get so the bookcase isn't overflowing as fast :)

 to you Kem. :)

For me:

3.0 Core Rule Books
Sword and Fist
Tome and Blood
Masters of the Wild
Song and Silence
Deities and Demigods
Faiths and Pantheons
Defenders of the Faith
Monster Manual 2
Fiend Folio

Complete Warrior
BoED
Tons of Mini's (I swear, I'm addicted to them)

And that's just WotC stuff. I don't even know where my older stuff is. I only play 3.5 games, so I have a lot of expensive placemats lying around. :D (DM sometimes steals stuff out of old 3.0 books)
