| Serge_P01-23-08, 10:24 AM | Hi, I made a char, Chtl, who at level1 has +17 to bluff checks, and can always take 10 on bluff. (Auto-27) Back on topic: What are your funniest/best bluffs, and what are the funniest/best bluffs you can think of, and what are the best/funniest uses of bluff? |

| Douglas Zuver01-23-08, 02:21 PM | Worst use of Bluff, but best use of Bluff at the same time… I once had a character stand up from the steps of a cellar stair and use bluff to act frightened about monsters approaching. She said something like “Oh, look there are Bugbears coming this way.” Then looked down the stairs and said, “Come help me fight them.” Rather unbluff like because she was telling the truth so no bluff roll needed. (Maybe an acting roll was needed, but she was scared enough that it wasn't even acting...) However, it did draw attention away from the characters hiding in plain sight along the tower wall to the bugbears left. All they had to do was glance that way and see them. The Bugbears came after my character and the two hiding characters gained a sneak/flanking attack against them. Still a tough battle, because of the zombies coming up thru the cellar which my cleric turned, but we prevailed in the end making the mercenary bugbears retreat after they sustained 50% loses. |
| blodgett01-23-08, 04:30 PM | My CE drow had just killed the LG elven leader of the small village. He was caught in a tavern where there was a dwarven drunken master sleeping it off. He turned the the CG elven ranger captain of the guard and said, "Honest, it wasn't me. Would a drow be stupid enough to come into an elven town and kill the mayor? It must have been the drunk dwarf." A natural 20 later, and the dwarf woke up in jail. I high tailed it out of there, laughing the whole way. :D |
| LivingShadow01-23-08, 05:05 PM | "Look a distraction!" Strangely enough that one works in real life. My best use for bluff was to bluff that we worked for the BBEG which got us through a few rooms with no trouble. (until the BBEG figured it out of course.) |
| Fenrir_Greyback01-23-08, 05:15 PM | I actually did this with my rogue to the rest of my party. " Seriously guys, All I found was this tiny ruby, 24 gp, and these masterwork boots." I gave all that away, and kept the two medium sized rubies to myself. Similarly, there's a good use for the run feat. It's for when you're running from your party to spend the 3000 gp that you're supposed to split with them. |
| Nuttir01-23-08, 09:28 PM | I remember a story that my friend told me about bluffing a Paladin to think that his character (Bard) what a living effigy of the paladin's god, or something to that effect. The situation was something like that someone had killed a person and the paladin was the main suspect, so his character told the paladin to tell the truth to the authorities and turn himself in. This happened because the DM stuffed up his sense motive and the bard had a big bluff modifier , forgetting what it is (had a -50 to his bluff, still passed)... |

| VengefulGazeofGod01-24-08, 09:36 AM | I'm usually the rogue type and I always use bluff to steal half the loot! When I was playing NERO (live action DnD-ish 'game') I was an NPC and I once actually convinced a PC that one of his friends hired me to kill him and that I just couldn't go through with it and had him beat the crap out of his friend before I waylayed the guy and took him and his uncounsious friends crap! And then that night when I was playing another NPC, the same guy charmed me and told me we had to kill my fellow bandits and I jumped right into that idea SO well that my fellow NPC's actually thought I switched sides on them! In my NERO chapter I am world renouned for my creepy/great roleplaying ability do mostly to that one day! |
| justin_byrne01-24-08, 06:26 PM | My most recent EPIC bluff was when my brother (while in a midnight game in Frace) persuaded a bugbear guard on the otherside of the door that he was the other bugbear guard that he just killed and that the guard should not come in.... heres how the conversation went..... (in goblinoid of course) BugG: Hey, its the end of your shift, my turn. Harry: No! Dont COME IN! BugG: WHY? Harry: Because I'm.... NAKED!?! BugG: :S ??? :S WHAT! Harry: Yes I'm completly naked in the gaurdhouse so don't come in. BugG: WHAT??!!! Why you NAKED Harry: Because I'm.......... [struggles for somthing, then desperatly cries this] Touching myself!!!!! (bear in mind this is some of the weirdest, and most brilliant improvising I have seen in a long time... well maybe) BugG: ?????? O_O ?????? Harry: Yes, um, it's really lonley here I miss my woman [or somthing to that effect] BugG: Oh yes, I remeber her, Very spotty, many warts, good find! Harry: Yes of course. I have sexy picture of [her name somthing like Ugluk] BugG: Oh, I see, I give you five Minutes one of the largest consecutive rolls of 18, 19 & 20 in DnD. Not a single bad rol and about 10 rolls altogether.... EPIC |
