| TyWebb09-11-07, 06:12 PM | You know, those little things PCs do when they're trying to be silly, but don't really interrupt the flow of the game (much). Fr'instance (and these are all PCs I've played with or DMed...) 1) The dwarven barbarian with a CHA of 8 and 1 rank in Perform (bagpipes) who would occasionally get up and perform in inns and taverns...usually following the performance of the party bard. 2) The 2nd edition wizard who would routinely carry around 100 salted herring (which were actually listed in the 2e PHB for 1 gp/100). During almost any social interaction, he would casually inqure of whomever he was talking to, "Would you care for a salted herring?" He especially loved to do this to BBEGs just prior to the battle (once, he did it during the battle). |
| TheWildKing09-11-07, 08:25 PM | 3) Our CN Fighter that decided how he would act by rolling a d8 that he'd assigned the other alignments to. Funniest memory, i remember seeing him rush headlong into a building to save a child when he was LG. He then rushed back down, roll the d8 again, and ended up CE. So, instead of handing the kid back to the parents, he stuck it on his spear and had a wienie roast instead. The DM couldn't say it was disruptive, b/c it was his idea to try CN this way in the first way :P |
| Rakael09-11-07, 11:03 PM | My team has a CN Rogue/Sorcerer who loves singing Bohemian Rhapsody (read:badly) and nearly always annoys the enemy enough to attack him first. *gun in the song is replaced by "put my crossbow 'gainst his head" Also casts alarms with passwords like 'I love jellybeans' "Hanky the Solstice Poo", and makes endless SouthPark references (cleverly manipulated to be IN character) when sleeping. AND, is egging the party druid to cast baleful polymorph on a renegade drow to turn him into a guinea pig, find a female guinea pig for him to mate with, wait till he gets kids, THEN cast remove curse on him, and show him his 'kids' and 'wife' :gah: *I'm under the impression that the person would retain all his memories from being a guinea pig, when remove curse is casted....* |
| Rania09-12-07, 11:12 AM | Oh my lol (OML). |
| Sarig the Genie09-12-07, 11:34 AM | My level 15 sorcerer thinks magic is too unreliable to be used for flying, and as such is really frightened when she has to rely on the 'fly' spell to cross a pit of lava (like we're doing right now in the campaign) :( |
| SquirrelMortis09-12-07, 03:24 PM | 2) The 2nd edition wizard who would routinely carry around 100 salted herring (which were actually listed in the 2e PHB for 1 gp/100). During almost any social interaction, he would casually inqure of whomever he was talking to, "Would you care for a salted herring?" He especially loved to do this to BBEGs just prior to the battle (once, he did it during the battle). Probably a Doctor Who reference. Replace 'wizard' with 'Tom Baker' and 'salted herring' with 'jelly baby.' |
| SeptimusMagistos09-12-07, 10:43 PM | One of my characters kept trying to talk to people who were just there as decorations. He would annoy everyone in the game world to no end. He would also try to collect random items in hopes of finding a use for them at a later point. To aid in that, I asked for precise descriptions of every room. This once led to some couches being described and then promptly vanishing as the DM saw the look in my eye. Of course, this gave my character an obsession with vanishing couches... |
| Galeigh09-13-07, 01:58 AM | I once played a one-armed rogue who had his head lopped off by an enchanted Axe that prevented him from dying because of the wound.... So I was forced to walk through the the rest of the adventure with my head under my only arm, and once I threw my head at the other rogue in group because took some of my food. |
| Easalyamusedoldman09-13-07, 02:09 AM | A cleptomanic Mage who only steals small shiny metal objects form eather the rich or from public programs |
| Despana09-13-07, 03:31 AM | I had an Erudite (psionic class for those who don't know) in Dark Sun who would hold one-sided conversations with inanimate objects. Too bad she got disintegrated. :weep: |
| Horatio09-13-07, 06:20 AM | My trademark character had a habbit of writing (onto walls, into walls, on the tables, on the pillars, almost anywhere) "I was here, Horatio". Due to the fact that as a part of a band of adventurers, many of the places he visited were subject to some form of catastrophe (some of them AFTER we arrived ;) ) which builded a nice reputation precedeing this character. He liked to throw other off-balance (anytime, be it in the dungeon or in the town) using a non-appropriate situational conversation. Like when invading a hideout the local boss appeared (with the usual "who the hell are you and what are you doing here) and Horatio grabbed an apple from nearby table offering it "do you want apple" to the boss (which yielded us a surprise round). |
| Zoycitenega09-13-07, 10:43 AM | I had an avariel wizard who got into way more melee combat then she should have. She was super careful about keeping her wings clean and free from muck. One session, an NPC got killed right next to her, with blood squirting all over her wings. She was traumatized by the incident. |
| Orochi_art09-13-07, 11:24 AM | In my campaign there is stuff like this, at least once per game session (but usually much more) So...okay half-elf sorcerer and dwarf cleric comes in a bar (true story)...and half-elf wants to gamble with city guards. He takes 20 gp as a stake (1st mistake. Nobody has that amount of money in here.) So he plays and wins. In a play there was this poor commoner, and that was his last money and chance to earn something. So sorcerer feels bad and wants to give him 5 gp. This guy is proud and toss those gp on floor "I don't want your charity!!!!" Half-elf Sorcerer "This is not charity!!!!I'm trying to bribe you!!!!" ^ ^ Also there was this campaign which was lead by my friend. Anyways party comes in a dark basement, and there is no light BUT you can smell sulphur (or gas...can't remember) in the air. Sorcerer "I cast a fireball to light the room." |
| Ventus_Frago09-13-07, 12:30 PM | I have a Priestess who is into animating undead and I had her animate a dead chicken who is named Cluckles. Cluckles has an eternal flame cast inside his rib cage so he's our normal party light source and scout. There have been plenty of times where I've considered animating other meals to be a source of party portage. There really is nothing funnier then watching your DM trying to figure out NPC reactions to a small skeletal chicken, bbkkkcaaawww!!! |
| Zousha_Omenohu09-13-07, 06:28 PM | 16. The PC always inserts a particular word when he/she says the name of a particular race. "FRIGGIN' KOBOLDS!" "Oh look, it's a cute little friggin' kobold!" "Hello, Mr. Friggin' Kobold." etc. |
| Jshock_7509-13-07, 06:42 PM | I played a low Int paladin in someone's game a while back... only an 8. Not dumb as rocks, just a bit dim. I decided on a lark that she thought Dwarves could explode (they had a conection to the plane of fire, see?). Her quirk was validated when the party found a corpse rigged with hidden explosives... |
| Orochi_art09-14-07, 05:52 AM | I also now remember a CG half-orc barbarian with a int 3 but high meaning of good (for his int score XD). Sooo...when someone cast a domination spell on him and commanded him to attack his party of lawul good PC he would always pass the save without rolling. Reason was that he could not attack good alignment creatures he knows. That is one of the greatest role-play thing I ever seen. |
| WolfhunterBlackRunner09-14-07, 10:27 AM | I was sitting in on a session, and have dmed a session when my halfling druid and dwarf barbarian players have used the classic ninja turtles go ninja go! line. The first was when the barbarian had been hiding behind and dummy in a room filled with goblins, while the druid and his wolf attacked the goblins the barbarian sprang out from behind the dummy saying go ninja go ninja go, and smashing goblin heads. The second humorous incident was the former druid playing a fighter, and the barbarian dming. The fighter snuck out of the woods decapitated a goblin, as the other guard turned in suprise to face him, he did the go ninja go dance and gained an attack of opportunity!! |
| JasonOrlandoHawk09-14-07, 09:17 PM | My current party (in a very vaguely Greek setting): Untem Earthbeard, Dwarven Ranger: Named his Waraxe "Diplomacy." Insists that he is a master of Dwarven Diplomacy. All attack rolls are referred to as "Diplomacy checks." Loreat the Spartan Lizardfolk: Eats anything he helps kill. Frequently comments about how other members of the group would taste. Refers to the ship captain's kitten as "Din-Din." Ulfgar the Minotaur: Took Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Anchor), which he uses to devastating effect in battle. "Mel" the Catfolk Rogue: Enjoys "cow-tipping," the fine art of tripping Ulfgar when he's not looking. Has not been caught to date. Seebo Beren, Gnomish Warmage: As the result of a tangent inspired by the "2001 things I am no longer allowed to do in a Roleplaying game" on the d20 system threads, Seebo has unlocked a hidden gnomish talent associated with the Intimidate skill. With an Intimidate check DC 25, Seebo can lick his own eyebrows. I mean, seriously, why else would a gnome be intimidating? Anubis, Human Cleric: "I swear I'm not a Stargate rip-off. I swear!! Now kneel before your god!!!" Andromeda, Half Sea-Elf Druid: Captain of the Ship. Frequently threatens to have members of the group thrown overboard. Typically falls asleep halfway through the game and gets pranked the rest of the night. |
| annoyinglizardvoice09-17-07, 05:49 PM | In the party I'm currently DMing for, there's a newbie player playing a rogue/sorceress who has a habit of yelling "Throats! I want to slit some throats!" whenever she wants to know if she can make a sneak attack. She also mutters "throats" if someone else is taking too long on their combat turn and decribes roleplaying as "It's great! You get to pretend to be someone your not, and you can cast spells and nick stuff of rich, evil people and if anyone starts on my mates I have to roll dice to see how well I cut their throats!". Her presence in the group make me feel sane, so I like her being there. |
| SeptimusMagistos09-17-07, 06:33 PM | One character was obsessed with hunting witches. Except there weren't any witches anywhere. Then he found some witches. He proceeded to try to slay them by splashing water on them. When that didn't work, he went to plan B: dropping a house on them. That did it. |
| dndfencer09-17-07, 07:15 PM | Orc barbarian named Ugh, with int of 3, and an obsession with "ooh, pretty shiny" A party of people who loot the treasure, kill the monsters, then bust down the doors |
| Stardrake09-17-07, 07:42 PM | DuVega, a half-orc barbarian I DM'ed for. She had CHA 10, which is high for a half-orc barb, and played it by being vain. She washed frequently, always carried 2 pounds of soap, and used as her battle cry: "I GOT SOAP!!!!!!". |
| Bauglir09-17-07, 08:01 PM | Vuthamolik, Poison Dusk Dragon Shaman: Was somewhat obsessed with shiny things, and had a habit of using his Line of Acid breath weapon to shoot birds out of the air and then make a Dex check to catch it in his mouth, somewhat pre-digested. He had a goal of doing this with every bird small enough for it to be a viable option. Oh, and this was the same guy who opened the crate at the end of a corridor of traps, and, seeing the Fine Wine inside, immediately thought it was a reward for our hard work and picked up a few bottles to sell later. Then made an equal number of Fortitude saves versus the contact poison. He sold them afterward, anyway. Unnamed Epic Warlock (He HAD a name, I just can't remember what it was): Whenever the party was planning what we should do next, he'd just sit around blasting the local scenery with Eldritch Blasts. Got about half an inch through a steel wall before the rest of the party noticed and made him start paying attention. On a side note, the time he rolled a 2 on a Will save against some Aboleth mages was fun, since the rest of the party failed to notice entirely until he unleashed some Eldritch Doom shaped Vitriolic Blasts. This was before Hellfire Warlocks, of course, back when all we had was the Complete Arcane. |
