my friend had a barbarian named Kyrgosh

one day, he was visited by a time travelling wizard who brought cupcakes from the future. the cupcakes were so delicious that Kyrgosh demanded more, but alas the wizard disappeared. From the day on, Kyrgosh's lust for pastries drove him to madness, allowing him to only say "Kyrgosh want cupcakes!!!"

that being all he said, and nobody in the campaign knowing what cupcakes were, everybody assumed his name was Kyrgosh Wantcupcakes.

I have a current Boar Totem Barbarian by the name of Vallasgolorothe Ulksrunner (which in his language means "One who kills with the ferocity of the running elk"). My friend asked my "So why are you Ulksrunner if your part of the tribe of the boar?"

I simply replied, "That my friend is a long, drawn out and needlessly complicated tale best suited for another time,"

The DM then said, "In other words, he has no idea."

Drizzt.

Seriously, It sounds like when asked his name he started to say drizzle but sneezed halfway through.

Actual names on the other hand I know a couple of them.

A Veitnamese man I know has a pronounced name that sounds like "You" "F--k" and spelled U *** (This might be sensored but it's missing the "C" pretty much.

"Dixit" was another one that was funny, the X sounded kinda like a "sh" sound.

And a teacher at one of my old middle school's that I attended Had the name of "Harold Butts", but everyone called him "Harry".

It wasn't D&D sadly, but I played Heroquest for the first time the other day and played as two Barbarians, Minmax the Fearful, and Charop the Kicka**.

The one that comes to my mind is Tealeaf Murderface, the psychotic halfling rogue who wore people's faces after he killed them, Hannibal Lecter style.

What made it more funny was the fact that we weren't sure if human faces actually fit over a halfling face without extensive modification...

Two friends of mine had a pair of nearly retarded half-orcs names Bog Shlurpin and Og Labogo. Another friend of mine played a Ravenloft farmer named Billy Bob Longshoe.

As for the guy who posted the really really long name, that's gotta be a gnome!

Grebal goblin Chosen of Boccob, Paladin of Boccob.

An NPC Fighter with a +1 Shortsword that would glow blue if in the presence of a Gobliniod. He had massive luck bonuses and Boccob would periodicly attempt to do something that would kill him but due to his immense luck he would somehow always survive and seem slightly more awesome. The bane of people in my games for years.

I played a one-shot, single-session game and I didn't want to use any of my good character concepts because I knew it was just a one-shot... so I named him Pally McPaladin.

He was everyone's pal.:)
Stardrake

03-26-07, 10:37 PM
A couple from the White Box days--Polaroid the Magic-User and my fighter, Orkin the Exterminator. (Shoulda seen him deal with giant bugs....)

Mr. Mxyzptlk

I still can't pronounce it.

But can you say it backwards?:rimshot:

That would be me, and you could simply quote it. I save kittens when someone praises me :D

Totally stealing this from Metalocalypse, but Thunderbolt Murderface. It's as awesome as it is rediculously lame.

03-27-07, 09:19 PM
Mr. Mxyzptlk

I still can't pronounce it.

It is pronounced Mizzes Pittle Lick, but all thrown together.

Not joking.

Anyway, the worst name I have ever heard, is a Pixie Bard named X.

The funniest I have ever seen in a game, is Dash Heartbreaker, the lovable Mineral Warrior Half-Orc Bard. He had two good saves, a 3/4 BaB, and 3sp/level (none of which ever made it into perform:( ).

I also liked Crashgar Burndownderbarn, the Feral Half-Minotaur Lesser Planestouched Aasimar. He was pretty spectacular.

Listen to this:

I had starting playing D&d with 3.0. After I had many games under my belt as a player, I started writing adventures so that I may start running. I took months researching regional names for cultures, assigning certain real-world languages to my races. I spent days looking for just the perfect names for key political figures. So, the game starts. Everybody is instructed to introduce themselves. The names they picked? Brick the barbarian, Barney the drunken master, and Shump. Shump? Yes, Shump. Sounds like a damned disease..."the wererat prostitute succeeded in biting you, roll a Fort save vs. Shump."

On a similar note, I'm playing a Spiker Fighter named Rend Gutripper. :P
Warforged Goblin

03-29-07, 02:44 PM
This guy in a campaign I ran REALLY liked hack-n-slash... even in the RP heavy game. So, he named his great axe weilding paladin of the Silver Flame Sir Hacksalot.

I told him no. Lots.

So, he decided that "Harmstrong the Fighter" would be better.

ARMSTRONG didn't live very long after that...

Oh, and one of my oopsies: Thordic Hammerdin. Leave it to my buddy to say "Your d**k's sore cuz you hammered it in, right?" Stupid dwarven names...

A changeling that whenever in a male form calls himself Fredward, and whenever in a female form chooses the name Fredwina.
Shiikeras

03-29-07, 06:44 PM
"Sir Hugh Jassakilya"

That was the paladin. Seriously. He had an int of 7, and played it well. When he died from being too stupid ("Bah, the kobolds wouldn't make a pit trap, they'd fall it!"), his next character was named "Tvenynch Venr". He played him (a rogue, this time) with a heavy german accent.

Read elsewhere on these boards.

Someone rolled extremely poorly and got an intelligence of 4. His character's name was Dain Bramaged.

A paladin named Sir Loin of Beef (as in "hailing from the kingdom of Beef).

I was once going to name my character Var'Jhin. I had to change it pretty soon.

There's Antimony Arsenic Aluminum Selenium and Hydrogen and Oxygen and Nitrogen and Rhenium (sung very fast to the tune of "I Am The Very Model of a Modern Major General") (alchemist)
Kevin Phillips Bong (Bong sounds kind of like a bell-ringing tone) (Lizard Man Fighter)
Pyro Fire-flinger (fighter)
Kublai Khan (fighter)
Verix Dwarf-stomper Gnome-boiler Halfling-crusher Elf-slayer Man-killer (half-orc Fighter) (at least party inspired by a First Quest article in Dragon, by Roger Moore (I think))

Taash for short?

Locke (Thief, FF3)
Skilly McBardy (Old Human Rogue/Bard/Loremaster pumping int while spamming every utility/knowledge skill that other players don't tend to take)
khyron1144

03-30-07, 01:57 AM
Taash for short?

I never shortened it while playing or while recounting his exploits to others, although someone reminded me about this children's book, Ricky Ticky Tembo, because long names are unwieldy.

A paladin named Sir Loin of Beef (as in "hailing from the kingdom of Beef).

My friend (stupid immature person who I hate) called his ranger Tod the Timberman, DM did'nt allow it.

Noah Bodi, his sister Bizzi, his older brother Ani, their uncle Sum and his son the bounty hunter Catcha... You get the idea. Family of halfling trouble makers whose grandfather (Aintgotno) eventually became the companion of a goddess.

(BTW - Noah is currently resting. He was blown down a pit he was crawling out of. The party mage hit the undead hydra at the top of the pit with a fireball and didn't realize he was under the hydra. He went from 39 hit points to -4 faster than any halfling before him!)

A friend of mine played a paladin in a game I ran a while back. He started his name out as Dexter McAlister. Not a bad name. Then, for whatever reason (just before the game started), he wanted to change his name to Dumnar.

Now, not only did Dumnar sound somewhat... dumb (quite litterally)... the other player's kept having diffuculties remembering his exact name (as they just remembered it being dum...*some sylybal*). So they would usually end up calling him Dumass (pronounced with a long U, not a short U, but still...). Needless to say, he got sick of it, and I allowd him to re-change his character's name back to Dextar McAlister.

I played a vampire that constantly ate one member of the party, eventually i killed him before a battle and he rencarnated his character as "lunch box" and once i ate him again (much to the groups humor) it became "lunch bag"

(serves him write for playing lawfull good)
