1001 Musical Alignments [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-23-07, 03:41 PM I don't know if anyone did a thread like this before or not... I was just thinking about what alignments different instruments would be...

1. Drums: Lawful, because they set the beat for the rest of the music, unless, of course, Animal (from the Muppets) is playing... lol.
2. Electric Guitars: mildly Chaotic
3. Bass Guitar: Lawful

Hopefully others can add onto this list...

Keyboards are chaotic? Not when they're used in Rush songs, especially the opening bars of "Subdivisons." One of the most lawful patterns I've ever heard.

10-24-07, 01:22 AM It does really depend on how the instruments are used. I think an even more interesting topic is finding songs which exemplify the various alignments. Stuff like:

Chaotic Evil -- Anarchy in the U.K. by the Sex Pistols ("Get ******! Destroy!")

Edit: I'm very surprised that the above censored word got censored :) Just look up last lyrics of the song if you aren't already familiar with it.

Guitarists are NE... they are worse than drummers for not considering the rest of the band

Orchestral percussion is LN... as are most orchestras. Orchestral discipline and all.

As a bass player, I would like to point out that not all guitar players are chaotic. I'm in a band with a lawful guitarist (knowns rhythm and chords and scales) and a chaotic one (plays crazy rhythms, wrong chords, wacky scales), guess which one sucks. Everyone in a band needs to be with the beat, with the lyrics (and possible the solo) having the futherest distinction between in. Popular music, in its man forms, is heavily regulated to an unrelenting (lawful?) beat.

Orchestal music can get pretty chaotic on the otherhand. Renecainse, Baroque, and Classical music are pretty rigid, but once you get to the Romantic peroids and those that follow, its gets pretty out there. Check out "The Rite of Spring." Meter changes every measure, along with they key.

Depends on the flavor of metal. Power metal is more NG. Black metal = CE, for sure.

As a bassist, I ask why we're lawful? Just for keeping the beat? I can cause as much of a ruckus as any guitarist.
