Lately I have noticed that players do certain things, either between themselves or for their characters that are of a superstitous nature I will start a few and see if anyone else has the same thing anywhere... :D

One player in our group plays a bard that when we ask her to sing a line or 2 of her song she is singing, she must have the word cheese in it or she will be knocked to less then 0 hit points, sure enough there was a trend until we figured it out

We have a cleric who has a pretty good turn undead, but the player only rolls well for it when he is wearing his lucky underwear (now a group favorite)

Our wizard is new to the group and so is the player that plays her. when ever she hopes she is not making a dumb decision, she blows on her fingers, thus insuing that she has a good roll.

wierd thread thought I know but I am curious

-If the dice program we use comes up with less than a natural 10, the guy who made it is screwing with the code

-If one bad roll happens, at least two more are to follow (actually true...last session had THREE nat-1s in a row BY THE SAME PLAYER)

Aside from the usual dice-related superstitions...

Never go left, unless left is your only choice. Bad things happen when you head off to the left...

I'm left handed, don't go latin on me...
13. Don't roll on your character sheet.
14. Don't trust the rogue (if being played by a new player, experienced players don't usually play sterotypes).
15. Don't roll with your dominate hand.
16. Always give alittle to passing bards and beggers.
17. Don't protect your spell book. If you do you are tempting fate (or the DM) by saying that it can't be stolen.

A few well placed spells will end most fights. So will a few poorly placed spells, :P

22. One are most likely to roll a threat chance when fighting undead, or when the enemy has only a few HP left. The latter are almost always confirmed.

23. No matter what you prepare for, the DM has something else in mind.

24. The more good deeds you do for them, the more the townfolk are scared of you.

25. NPCs will only know of your reputation if it means that they'd be more likely to attack you because of it.

25. All extra dice must be rolled, and if they roll lower then max divided by two, you must pust them with ice cubes within a small cup of water.

26. If all roll lower than max divided by 2, then you must melt the d6 in the microwave, with an offering of blood. (no, I am not kidding, I am serious, I have melted 10 dice so far, and I have been DMing for 5 yrs.

27. Must sing "Ring thier Bells" at LEAST once per session.

28. If a person's name is Jean Erik Villon, He's the BBEG (say it as one work without french accent and you get generis villan)

29. ALWAYS look up a spell when it's casted for the first time (it WILL be used improperly)

30. The DM has mood swings (that's me!)

- The DM Dice must all be a pearly white color and kept in a chainmail bag

- If you have twin PCs, you will roll doubles indefinately

- Dice belong in the freezer

- If you count a roll that falls on the floor, you are scr*wed beyond all possible imagination
including the DM's

- Take D6 and place on flat palm of hand, 1 facing up. Tip hand over for high roll. (My DM swears by this.)

I do that, too, but it's not superstition.

It's my Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

My wife keeps several sets of dice handy. If a set isn't "working out," she puts it aside and chooses another. I once rubbed her lousy d20 together with my good d20 to try to "rub off" some high rolls. Sure enough, she rolled high the rest of the session and I rolled mediocre.

My players are afraid of stew. Once, there was stew bubbling over the fire in the hearth of a supposedly deserted cottage. A nice old lady came in and offered them some. They suspected poison. It wasn't poisoned, but the old lady was a hag in disguise. Ever since then, every time somebody is cooking stew over a fire, the players suspect something.

But that's not so much superstition as suspicion.

Every time I start writing a new campaign, I get a new set of dice for it. I can't seem to feel alright with the campaign unless it has its own, dedicated dice.

It isn't superstition but every time me or my buddy DM's when the players do somthing we don't like we say a Flaming-Frozen-Exploding-Liquid-Solid Rock-Lava-Electric-etc. meator falls from the sky and crushes them.

-Never trust sickly looking people crawling out of no where saying "Help me"
-Even if I am the dumbest most anti-social character in the party somehow I'll end up leader and have to RP far outside of my stats because no one else has and common sence.
-The roll is always a 20 when the DM isn't looking
-No matter if all you have rolled that game is 20's when it comes to a life or death saving throw you will always roll a 1
-Characters made because the previous character died will act just like that character even if they are different race, alignment, or class.
-If you keep rolling bad throw the dice at the dm garenteed it will land on a 20
