| Kamin_Majere10-08-07, 05:39 PM | Back when i studied Iiado, once on the draw my hand slipped and the sword kinda fell out of its sheath I accidently yelled out "Sh**, I guess I rolled a 1 with that attack" I had to do many many push ups, and run many many miles because of that little slip of the tongue:weep: |
| LifeIshFun10-08-07, 05:50 PM | ¤ When hitting on the opposite sex you say: "Hey baby...I got a CHA of 18, prepare for an Innuendo check." (seriously...a friend of mine said this once. Win) ¤ When at work or school you begin to roll imaginary dice just to pass the time. (Or real dice for that matter) ¤ The Dungeons and Dragons movie made you physically ill. (Like...projectile vomiting ill) ¤ When you change your Myspace name to "Pun-Pun" (:shifty:) ¤ When you begin to make up extra character sheets..."Just in case" ¤ When you have a heart attack and die from a heavy Mountain Dew and Cheetos diet |
| Escef10-08-07, 05:53 PM | When you get hit by someone opening a door and you say, "It's ok, I've got plenty of hit points left." ...Guilty. |

| Genevieve_Evernight10-08-07, 06:11 PM | My friend and ex-roommate Libby(who doesn't play) spent so much time with us that she went to a movie and said: "Mage Hand: warm up seat!" It was the only spell name she knew, but that says something about who she hangs out with. :heehee |
| Manus10-08-07, 06:25 PM | When you have spent over 2500 dollars on 3.5 edition books, or on the current miniatures game, or both. And you are considering doing the same on 4th edition books and minis. |

| Habronicus10-08-07, 08:28 PM | When you visit the Wizards of the Coast forum/site, every day. |
| brave_shad0w10-08-07, 09:54 PM | When you talk in your sleep about dungeons and dragons rules (my sister says i have done that several times) When looking at random items in your basement or kitchen with friends you start to talk about how much damage something might do if used as a weapon in dnd You come back from the bathroom. someone asks if you hit the toilets armor class. During any sport you may often try to use a heroic shout to boost your parties morale. This applies to most of my gym classes, things like "FOR GREATER GLORY!" If you have played dnd for more than 7 hours straight. i think ive pulled somewhere between 10-12. When you dream, you dream up your next campaign. when you relate nearly anything to dnd and ask fellow dms things like "wouldnt that make for a great campaign" If you stab a friend with a pencil and call out "CRITICAL HIT!" When you sometimes mix your words up in public and instead of saying Me or I you say My Character At a job interview when asked how much expierience you have, you whip out your character sheet and answer exactly that, or instead you say: "dont worry, I have a +10 modifier to working this type of job" |

| TwiddleStootch10-08-07, 10:04 PM | You sneak up behind people and smack them in the back of the head while shouting "SNEAK ATTACK!" You try to stat out people you see on TV and in movies. You constantly contemplate your own stats and class levels. (Guilty of all 3 :D ) |
| ArgulFraster10-08-07, 10:07 PM | When you visit the Wizards of the Coast forum/site, every day. Yo. I FREQUENTLY say I've rolled a nat. 1 when I screw up. |
| FoulQ10-08-07, 10:12 PM | Haha just today me and my (non-dnd playing) friend were fake fighting in band...i had mallets that are used on the chimes (if you know what those are)... And then I randomly spurt out "watch out, these do 1d3 bludgeoning damage!" Really awkward....but funny |
| Artifact10-08-07, 10:41 PM | When you fly into a barbarian rage and your wife just laughs at you. "Your so cute when you're mad; now put down the d20 . . . or else!" ;) |
| lulzapalooza10-08-07, 10:59 PM | You have a t-shirt that says "Jesus Saves" on the front and on the back it says "and takes half damage," and all you can think is "why didn't Jesus have Evasion?" |
| RollaD2010-09-07, 01:12 AM | half your school assignments have some pertenince to the game: ie: art projects of dragons, essays, and the like. you drew 'D&D' on the back of your buddies shirt with pastels drew a shield of the resolute (the dwarven patchwork shield in MiC) in art class for shapes your friends call you an advertizement or pop-up for how often d+d influences your social life you are constantly telling your friends about the game again...and again...and agian... i have and still do all of this...i didnt even know i did the resolute shield till i was done with it though lol |
| Dougan Axehammer10-09-07, 01:19 AM | When you're provoked into a fight, and you break out your dice bag. :) |
| navar10010-09-07, 02:03 AM | When your bard character composes songs about the party and you then feel compelled to write an actual song IRL....I've done this enough times that I've lost count. :ton: I did that with my 2E Players' Options paladin with an 18 CH who had the Voice quality. He liked to sing during downtime. Didn't help his name was Gilbert Sullivan. :P Not on purpose by me. I named him Gilbert after the character from "Anne of Green Gables". I just saw the PBS miniseries and really liked it. Another player decided to play my character's sister and he decided upon Sullivan. |
| navar10010-09-07, 02:03 AM | When you visit the Wizards of the Coast forum/site, every day. Even at work. :D |
| navar10010-09-07, 02:05 AM | You have a t-shirt that says "Jesus Saves" on the front and on the back it says "and takes half damage," and all you can think is "why didn't Jesus have Evasion?" He was a cleric. |
| soulnova10-09-07, 02:58 AM | * You always bring with you a set of Dice... EVERYWHERE. Movies, disco, restaurants, school, work... etc * When you saw "300" for the first time and saw Dilius jumping you gasped "OMG, he has +20 ranks in jump!" * You actually try to figure how much your strength is while carrying heavy loads (with the PHB table). |
| KILLBOT900010-09-07, 04:37 AM | *Yelling, "I cast fire ball!!!" while throwing an apple at your friend.:P *poking someone in the eyes whilst saying, "I cast flare." *you respond like your own name is called when someone says your characters name. Which doesn't happen much... |
| peril10-09-07, 06:11 AM | when walking down the street you see a short person and yell out 'well met young gnome' my mate does this to me all the time :P when you discuss battle tactics before going to the bar for drinks |
| 1337Ninja10-09-07, 07:24 AM | When you routinely walk up behind your friends, hit them and shout 'SNEAK ATTACK!' When you and your friends make up characters and semi-LARP them when you're meant to be playing soccer during P.E. When you spend about a quarter of the day during the school holidays on the D&D forums. When you spend your free time trying to think of inventive ways to use your uber TO build. When you have a half-full book of level 10 characters you use for duels. When about half your class time is spent talking about D&D or using those characters for duels. Guilty of everything.:D |
| Khadmus10-09-07, 07:48 AM | When you spend a quarter of the day on weekends on the D&D forums. |
| schpeelah10-09-07, 12:05 PM | When you spend about a quarter of the day during the school holidays on the D&D forums.Ant not more because you've read everything there... Guilty I also was on a trip once and had an opportunity to practise some archery. I yelled "cri-ti-cal hiiiiiiit!"... And freaking scored that critical hit! |
| Turin7110-09-07, 03:46 PM | When you look at mediaval or adventure movies and try to figure out which feat the characters have.... Guilty When you use your current and past PC names for password on the web and at work and pretty much anything that requires a password... Guilty When you spend work time on the DnD forums... Guilty When even though you are not remotely interested in converting to 4th ed any time soon you still check for news and updates every single day... Guilty PS. Is anybody keeping count??? |
| rauvian_theloadswallower10-09-07, 04:07 PM | I haven't really ever had anything funny happen concerning dnd in my social life because I haven't really been outdoors much. |
| TheJackOfSpades10-09-07, 04:12 PM | My co-worker at Little Caesars once said "I'm turning 19 in a couple days... It really isn't that big of a deal" and I honestly replied "That's like becoming fighter level 5th... Absolutely no benefit." She looked at me and said "... WHAT did you just say???" My response: "Nevermind :)" |
| Edwin_Durock10-09-07, 04:44 PM | me and my girl will be sitting on our couch and i say something goofy and she looks at me "You failed your bluff check" so i respond with "Can i try again with a different die" |
| RaevenSkye10-09-07, 06:39 PM | You continuously work on more than 3 homemade D&D databases or spreadsheets for your own use (I have more than 12). You spend months building a character sheet on the computer that does all the calculating for you when making a character and then don't ever use it cause it's more fun doing it by hand. You have multiple programs on your computer creating any type of environment needed for D&D (Inns, caverns, dungeons, or even whole worlds, etc.), an automatic die roller, a treasure generator, and fantasy name generator for making characters. |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli10-09-07, 06:54 PM | You spend months building a character sheet on the computer that does all the calculating for you when making a character and then don't ever use it cause it's more fun doing it by hand. That took you months? I made one in three hours. Never used Excel before either. Just what kind of crazy abilities did you put in there!? |
| Shiftkitty10-09-07, 08:05 PM | * You always bring with you a set of Dice... EVERYWHERE. Movies, disco, restaurants, school, work... etc * You actually try to figure how much your strength is while carrying heavy loads (with the PHB table). Guilty of both of these!!! Based on a true story: When you automatically call someone by their PC name in a non-game environment. We were involved in some well-intentioned but probably illegal activity. One of our players was on the lookout for the cops. We needed to know if the coast was clear, so one of the guys whispered over to him, calling him by his character name. Worse, he responded without hesitation. |
| RaevenSkye10-09-07, 08:29 PM | That took you months? I made one in three hours. Never used Excel before either. Just what kind of crazy abilities did you put in there!? Yes. Months. Incorporated information from about 20 books. I'm sure yours wasn't as detailed. I never seem to do things the easy way, I always add too much. |
| FreshAtUT10-09-07, 08:38 PM | You have funerals and bury your dead character sheets in the backyard, but not your pets. Not guilty, would just be really funny. |
| Thevail10-10-07, 01:17 AM | You have ever looked your Realtor in the eye and said with a straight face,"Of course it has to have a full basement, and a lot of parking!" - Guilty The night manager of the restaurant where you've held a game every Friday for 10 years calls you at home because he wants to know "if you guys are all right and stuff." because you canceled a game. - Guilty For your DMs birthday you really try and find a d20 shaped cake pan. - Guilty ( P.S. if you use the one for the soccer ball and put 2 points into paring knife use..it can be done!) If your kid owns the "My parents cheated on my ability scores" T-shirt.- Guilty |
| ptj250010-12-07, 02:48 PM | when you cant leave your dm alone and ask question about the game all the time one of my players do that:rolleyes: |
| Ozgar10-12-07, 02:56 PM | When you start answering to your D&D name. :P |
| shalitanior101810-12-07, 07:32 PM | you begin to make references to dnd in real life(i do that,my bro hated it when i say thing lik"they only aid yes because of my 18 charisma") |
| baby_kamikaize_kobold10-12-07, 07:53 PM | Owning a D20 bigger than your fist-guilty When one of your friends shouts "roll will save versus insanity. You then remove aforementioned D20 from your jacket, roll, and fail the check-guilty |
| Shiftkitty10-12-07, 08:24 PM | Your car goes into a skid on a hellaciously slippery and deadly stretch of road one rainy night, and you whip out your d20 and roll it on the dashboard to see if you're going to crash. (For the record, the die stayed on the dashboard, rolled up against the windshield, stopped on 20... and we made it. My brother is the guilty party in this story, although it was amazing that we didn't hit anything as we had an overabundance of viable targets. His only excuse was "We were gonna die anyway, may as well go out gaming.") |
| Eldritch_Lord10-12-07, 09:35 PM | I also was on a trip once and had an opportunity to practise some archery. I yelled "cri-ti-cal hiiiiiiit!"... And freaking scored that critical hit! ...and then realized that you can't score a critical hit on it because an archery target has no discernable anatomy. ;) Let's see, what have I done recently... --I've played tennis, hit the ball over the net, wished I could cast mage hand so I wouldn't have to go get it...and then went to get it because I realized that it was out of range. --I've had contests with my friends to see how many D&D "keywords" we could slip into presentations/discussions at school. My friend's favorite was for a presentation on the Odyssey--"With his feats of Great Strength, the epic hero Odysseus was able to slay each of the suitors with a single Fell Shot while they fumbled with their weapons." The other gamers in the class were snickering while the teacher just smiled and nodded. --Every time one of my computer programs needs a weighted random number generator for whatever reason (usually for bell curves and such), I write a d() method, like "int random = 4*d(6)". --Other gamers and I use D&D terms in conversation: Friend: *tries to trip me* "Made my trip check!" Me :*stumbles and recovers* "...Made my tumble check!" --When I had to do a comparison between the Norse and Greek pantheons for Comparative Religion, every single picture of the gods in my presentation was from Deities and Demigods and the images of their respective afterlives were from Planescape. More if I think of any. |
| Alastar10-13-07, 11:47 AM | You refer to certain ''unnamable parts'' of your anatomy as a Great Club, Capable of inflicting 1d10 Damage to anyone you hit with it. |
| TheJackOfSpades10-13-07, 01:32 PM | So help me God, this is a true story... My friend and I are climbing in a tree (with many MANY comments about our climb checks and the like) and he was able to reach a spot that we decided I shouldn't try for, as he may need my help comming back down. So he decides, rather than get down the way he came up, to try and hold onto a branch, as it bent low, and shimmy down it to the top of a local school. Trying to convince him not to had no result. So he says "Hey, come watch this" to me, who is at about the same level as he is, but in a much sturdier part of the tree. So I go over and watch. He gets about halfway down the branch, and guess what happens? *snap snap* Everything was very still, as my friend of the better part of 5 years dangles 20 feet in the air. No one moved. Then it came... *SNAP!* He falls a good 20 feet (not exagerating, I swear) and lands, and lets out a "ARGH!" with a look of sheer pain on his face. At this point I am laughing my ass off, not caring if I sound like a jerk, and the ONLY thing I was able to spit out was *uncontrollable laughter* Dude... *more laughs* You just took 2d6 falling damage! *still laughing* But it was okay, because as soon as I said that he started laughing his ass off too. And he managed to spit out "YOU'RE A LOSER!" (but he plays too, and found it very funny) |
| DonThelonious10-13-07, 01:59 PM | I have a friend and fellow gamer who bases every decision he makes off the roll of a d20. He will make up a relevant DC and modifier on the spot and then roll and see what what will happen. He based his ENTIRE WEDDING off of this. No BS. Every decision from who sets where and whether his speech would be good or not. It was almost sad... |
| navar10010-13-07, 02:40 PM | Almost? |
| navar10010-13-07, 02:47 PM | Back in college there was this guy who stopped being my friend because I played my 2E cleric casting spells other than Cure Light Wounds. Anyway, while watching a video of "The Princess Bride" I joked of various spells being cast when something happened in the movie. This fellow in question got irritated with it, which only made me do it more. When Wesley is to be "fixed", first was cast Speak With Dead. Former friend got angry. When Wesley was alive yet bed-ridden, I shouted "Raise Dead" since you lose a CON in 2E days. Former friend got really mad. What fun! :D |
| camthalion10-13-07, 03:26 PM | When you are describing your kids to other parents and you say "Well, they are both GOOD kids but this one is LAWFUL good and this one is CHAOTIC good" and manage to get the whole sentence out before you catch yourself. -- Guilty When the kids understand and agree -- Guilty |
| CCS10-14-07, 02:45 AM | Dungeons and Dragons[/I] movie made you physically ill. (Like...projectile vomiting ill) You are aware that it produced the same result in nearly everyone, gamer & non-gamer alike, who watched it. You don't need to be a D&D addict to know when you see a shity movie.... |
| Dougan Axehammer10-15-07, 01:42 AM | You are aware that it produced the same result in nearly everyone, gamer & non-gamer alike, who watched it. You don't need to be a D&D addict to know when you see a shity movie.... Hey, in all fairness it wasn't that bad of a movie. It probably didn't deserve the title Dungeons and Dragons, but as fantasy movies go I think it would be suitable for an older child to watch; it was a simplistic presentation and the fantasy element was seriously toned down, but there was enough storyline for a child to follow.) We also can't forget that paved the way for Peter Jackson and his glorious Lord of the Rings (because of the CGI), and we all know how good that was (even if it wasn't strict to the original.) Now, back to topic: - The time you spend and the activities you do with your children are to encourage them to play D&D with they get older (Guilty) |
| metalmayhem8011010-15-07, 03:36 AM | When you unfortunetly don't need a player's handbook to make a core character anymore.... Especially when that character is a mage... I am guilty (I made a 10th level mage for a game, on the spot, without any books, and had my entire spell list planned out... The worst part was.... Everything was right, even down to the bonus spells per day from my int mod) ... I knew from that day that it was to late to go back to a regular life..... |
| peril10-15-07, 06:29 AM | when you spend more time drawing a new weapon than you ever did doing homework :D when you remember something that has been bothering you for weeks and realise that its where you left that bag of gold ;) |
| Sirkus10-16-07, 03:26 PM | When you see an ad banner for a car on a website that says "50 more HP!!", and it takes you a while to realize they mean horse power, not hit points. (guilty...) |
| Dougan Axehammer10-16-07, 03:42 PM | When you see an ad banner for a car on a website that says "50 more HP!!", and it takes you a while to realize they mean horse power, not hit points. (guilty...) When you have a bumper sticker that says the same thing and you really do mean hit points. :) |
| StormKnight10-16-07, 03:42 PM | You tell your boyfriend "If you ever spend THAT much on a ring for me, it damn well better grant invisibility or a really good AC bonus." (Yes, my girlfriend told me this) |
| Dougan Axehammer10-16-07, 03:47 PM | You tell your boyfriend "If you ever spend THAT much on a ring for me, it damn well better grant invisibility or a really good AC bonus." (Yes, my girlfriend told me this) Wow, I would have expected either a Detect Thoughts or Zone of Truth enhancement coupled with Shrink Object or a Flesh to Stone/Crystalbrittle effect. |
| Spikes01k10-16-07, 05:10 PM | When you followed a truck around just so you could get a picture of their license plate because the first three letters were "ORC". |
| Shiftkitty10-17-07, 10:19 AM | When you see an ad banner for a car on a website that says "50 more HP!!", and it takes you a while to realize they mean horse power, not hit points. (guilty...) LOL! I was recently reading the spines of some car manuals at a bookstore and saw one that said "How to Add HP to Your High Mileage V8". You know what my first thought was "With the beating my engine takes, that would be useful." As per above, I then realized it was talking about horsepower... |
| Thevail10-17-07, 12:36 PM | When you can tell a new campaign is starting because you need new printer cartridges. When you notice and flip out because you can't log into the forums since Gleemax is on some sort of "breaktime" for two days. When a new wave of playtesting is announced and you NEED to check your e-mail about 100 times per day. When you buy sturdier bookshelves specifically for your D&D collection. When you also give up and buy several large totes for the rest of your D&D collection. When you name your dog Thac0..not me, honestly, a friend of mine. |
| Eldritch_Lord10-17-07, 09:50 PM | When you see an ad banner for a car on a website that says "50 more HP!!", and it takes you a while to realize they mean horse power, not hit points. (guilty...) When you see a stereotypical jock driving a car with a UMD bumper sticker and think, not "Football player at the University of Maryland," but "Wait a sec, Use Magic Device is cross-class for barbarians!" ...and say it out loud when a D&D- and football-playing friend is right next to you. :embarrass When you see a small generator in tech class labeled "+12V AC" and think, "Does a volt bonus stack with an armor bonus?" |
| schpeelah10-18-07, 01:56 PM | When you heard the name of the AC/DC band, you thought: "Well AC is kind of DC... Hey, wait a sec... *facepalm*" Guilty |
| Owlperson200710-18-07, 02:00 PM | looked all over town but nobody wanted a wizard for dragon slaying I wouldn't mind one, my mother-in-law is the nearest thing I can give you to take care of, but I can't afford to pay your airfare at the moment I'm afraid. Another sign to add to your thread: When you look at the world, sigh, and think "Elminster had it easy, evidently..." When you look at the forums, sigh, and think "When I played, Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford were the ones scrapping it out for presidential nominations..." When you name your dog Thac0..not me, honestly, a friend of mine. Please tell me he named it "Thacko" and not "To Hit Armour Class Zero"...please! |
| Shiftkitty10-18-07, 03:31 PM | I was browsing the used car ads once and did a double take, wondering why the seller would list that his car had AC, but didn't list what it's AC was...:embarrass |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli10-18-07, 06:22 PM | Yes. Months. Incorporated information from about 20 books. I'm sure yours wasn't as detailed. I never seem to do things the easy way, I always add too much. It was just a basic character sheet. The only features it really had was auto calculating things like HP, AC, to hit and stuff like that. It also had a build in Power attack spreadsheet for optimal values. No way in hell it was as detailed as yours. You still have it? Maybe willing to share some of that loving?:D |
| Firestar2710-18-07, 09:14 PM | When you hear a good speech and you say, "Wow, he must have rolled high on his Perform (oratory) check." (Guilty). When you hear that someone is judging something critically and you say "He must have rolled a natural 20". (I have a friend who is guilty but plays DDO, not pen and paper.) |
| Thevail10-18-07, 09:19 PM | When you say "I had my "core" group over", and everybody laughs. When you cannot read a fantasy novel without statting everything. When 4e seems like a good idea if only because you won't need that huge tote again for a few more years. |
| Shiftkitty10-18-07, 09:25 PM | This just happened to me tonight: When the local church group sends you a flyer for their "Prophecy Night" event, showing all of the hideous creatures of Armageddon and the Revelations, etc., and you think "Hmph! I could take 'em with one fighter and a wizard using only core rules." |
| Dougan Axehammer10-19-07, 12:04 AM | This just happened to me tonight: When the local church group sends you a flyer for their "Prophecy Night" event, showing all of the hideous creatures of Armageddon and the Revelations, etc., and you think "Hmph! When you begin to wonder if your priest (father, minister, etc.) can turn undead, spontaneously cure light wounds, and conjure food and water. |
| Laendra10-19-07, 12:42 AM | You let out a smelly fart, and tell everyone around you to roll a Fortitude Save vs Poison Gas....guilty |

"Of course, I'd probably start researching Karsus' (http://forums.gleemax.com/member.php?u=245941) avatar soon after..." ;) Karsus was a wizard who was called "the ape who would fly" by the elves after his death. Long story short he thought it would be a brilliant idea to steal the essence & powers & mind of a god for his on use even if he could do it for only once. Unfortunatly god he chose was the goddess of magic, when she was consumed the magic went instantly "insane" and the cities of Netheril fell from the sky along with the Karsus's now petrified corpse. | Sarella Starshine12-24-07, 07:08 PM | I was talking to my husband a few days ago. I was lamenting the fact that my two CG/CN girls have been giving me more than my fair share of grey hairs. I was trying to explain to him that I felt at level 30, I was too young to have grey hair and will dye my hair til I reach level 40 which, I felt was the proper age to let the grey show. It was not intil I noticed that he had this really really funny 'wtf' look on his face and he said 'did you just hear yourself?' And, then to add insult, he had to clarifiy for me what I just said. I mean, its bad enough when you use level as years when talking about age, but doing so without thought and having it explicitly pointed out that yes, that is what you have done, and it finally dawned on you 10 minutes later, that it maybe, just maybe it was a bit silly and off. |

Wouldn't mind getting stuck in there with that woman. You just have to remember not to ever say " This couldn't possible get worse".:D |
| CheesieM0nkies12-25-07, 07:39 PM | When its your turn in a monoploy game with non-gamers and you say, "pass the d6's" When you make a d3 cause u couldnt find one anywhere When you post on the forums on Christmas Day When you plan your adventures while your teacher gives the class a lecture on study skills When someone at school beats you up and look at the sky and shoot: THIS IS AN OVERPOWERING ENCOUNTER!!! When you refuse to armwrestle because you know you won once, which means your str is higher so there is no point When you drop a basketball on the ground and assume there is still a 5% chance that it will flukeishly land in the net When you kick a soccerball and miss, then scream out "DAMN SIZE BONUS TO AC" Not guilty of the last 4, but i am of most everyhing else |
