Yes another 1001 thread. What types of threads do you avoid when on the board? This may have been made before but not sure.

Mine:
1.Psionics is overpowered:rant:
2.Is it against paladin's code of honor to do...
3.Spartan class!
4.Verison 4 announced
5.Wizards should ban fighter threads:rant:

I'll second the 300 inspired threads. For some reason, I start avoiding a lot of threads every time a new action movie comes out.

15. Any thread with a mis-spelled title. If the OP can't spell the very title of his/her thread, things will not turn out well.

300 was still an amazing movie.

I'm not disputing that; I just for some reason don't feel the need to play a spartan in D&D to say that I enjoyed the movie.

16. Paladin threads (I think they deserve a second spot)
17. Point-buy vs Rolling threads
18. Magic Item threads
19. "This is what stinks about D&D" threads
20. Roleplaying vs Hack-and-Slash threads
21. Threads in which I don't think I can add anything to the discussion. Meaning: if I don't have anything nice to say, I try not to say anything at all.

14. Anime-based class creation topics.

Amen to that. Back when I first joined I posted in a few "help me make X anime character" threads suggesting the people try Big Eyes Small Mouth d20 so they wouldn't have to bend and break all kinds of rules to duplicate every single obscure ability their favourite anime character has. Just about every time I suggested it, I was met with "NO NO NO NO NO" :tantrum: :headexplo :censored: type replies. One of them even said "BESM moer liek big evil stupid machien" or something equally inane (and with just as many spelling mistakes).

Come on, you freakin' fanboys -- BESM as a whole is designed to be fulfillment for your ridiculous anime fantasies, so go use it so the rest of us adults can discuss... adult... things...? I dunno, I'm not saying some threads are inherently better than others, I just find the "help me make X anime character" threads a great big "I AM A FANBOY WHO KNOWS NOTHING OF LOGIC OR REASON" warning sign.

Helps that I don't watch much anime anymore.

22: (Offset of #21) Any discussion/debate thread over 40 posts long that I haven't already committed myself to.

Strangely enough, I find that anything longer than that would probably be a waste of my time to read, considering that, no doubt, someone has already posted what I'm going to say, and therefore I am unable to make no extra contribution to the thread. So why post?

I think the last two would fit quite comfortabley on the 1001 controversial thread titles thread (which i love, btw)

28: any thread concerning the Duskblade and asking a question about a rule that was blatently described in a manner so simple a 5 year old could tell you you're wrong.
29: threads that get more posts than they deserve, "can an elf wield a greatsword?" should have had one reply: "no", but instead it got several pages.

I'm sorry, if all these threads weren't there, what would be left?

I personally love helping out new DM's, but without alignment, overpowered, and bad group/players/dms threads, we would only have a new thread every two months! :P

QFT, man. That was a textbook case of "Hey! I can respond sarcastically to a stupid question! Let's beat this dead horse with a meat tenderizer until it looks like cherry pie filling!"

[QUOTE=Dalmaris_cerebromancer;12016551]What types of threads do you avoid when on the board?

I'll almost always stay away from any _____ is broken/over-powered/under-powered thread.
Why? Because these are simply pointless. The very nature of the game allows AND ENCOURAGES any individual DM/group to make up any house rule they so choose. You encounter a bit you & yours don't like, you just change it. It doesn't bear discussing with the world. It doesn't merit any petitions for new books or editions. All you have to do is realize that the change only applies to YOUR games and that others will operate differently.

At the very most you might consider posting something like; We found ____ not to our liking. Here's how we changed it.

It actually got less posts than it deserved. I'm still of the opinion that it should be re-opened.

After you die (whenever that'll be; your life sure got shorter when you wrote that post), do you want me to unearth you and put you on a display stand, surrounded by Elf mannequins? Elf mannequins that are sodomizing you? 'Cause that's what it sounds like you're asking for by making that statement.

Well, we did find out that cats can wear full plate. Okay, we knew it before, but we found out that it made less sense than it originally did (i.e. when we hadn't noticed it).
