| JulesCARV03-28-06, 07:41 PM | 1. Become a Lich 2. Become a Vampire 3. Become a Green Star Adept. 4. Transform into an Elan. 5. Before venerable age, die of something other than old age (say, poisoning yourself). Get a druid, archivist, or artificer to cast Reincarnate on you, giving you a new, young adult body (albeit of a random race). 6. Attain a divine rank. 7. Get someone who already has a (reasonably high) divine rank to like you. A lot. 8. Die, but stay in touch with things as a ghost. 9. Become Unbodied. 10. True Mindswitch yourself with someone reasonably young whenever you're getting old. 11. Astral seed (does this actually work for dying of old age? Nothing in the power description says.) |
| Watchdog_of_Hades03-28-06, 09:39 PM | 12. Have a wizard cast Temporal Stasis on you and voluntarily fail the save. You're immortal until someone reverses the spell. To stop that from happening, have the wizard go to a demiplane, enchant the receptacle you're in to make it very damage- and acid-resistant, then have a creature eat it. Then he casts Imprisonment on the creature and seal the demiplane to everyone. Woo! Immortality! 13. Invent a spell that lets you go at 99.9999 the speed of light anywhere (like Greater Teleport, but you can't pass through things), then put it into a magic item usable at will. Use it to go to astoundingly large distances as often if you can, especially if you don't have to sleep for some reason but are still mortal. If you travel to near a distant star and back, it's thousands of years in the future but you've aged about a round. That counts, right? 14. Have someone permanently encase you in a zero degree kelvin block of ice, maybe an extremely powerful creature with the cold subtype. You'll be cryogenically preserved (and so, immortal) until a large number of atoms in your body succumb to radioactive decay or someone damages your body. I hope these help. |
| Johnny Cache03-28-06, 10:06 PM | 15. Have one or more limbs replaced with animated brass/iron/stone/clay/etc. Voluntarily fail the Will save and become a construct. 16. Relocate to a plane where cartoon logic applies. 17. Bribe the DM. Works until someone pays him/her more than you. 18. Take over from the DM. You decide if/when your characters age or die. Works until someone else takes over from you in turn. |
| High Octane03-28-06, 11:30 PM | 19. Drink the blood of Dick Clark. |
| __Slayer__03-29-06, 12:36 AM | 20) Be the elvin race from Lord of the Rings |
| JulesCARV03-29-06, 02:05 AM | 21. Become one of those deathless positive-energy liches, for the goody two shoes undead wannabes. 22. Immerse yourself in quintessence. 23. Seduce a powerful Night Hag with a penchant for solving puzzles that oughtn't be solved. Get her to agree to seperate you from your mortality. ;) 24. Become epic. Repeatedly take extended lifespan. 25. Join the "prolongers," a Planescape sect, who extend their lives by stealing life from others. |
| Milo HoBo03-29-06, 10:40 AM | Addition to number 7 Use a thought bottle to circumvent losing all of your experience points. No one wants to become a first level commoner for the rest of their now immortal life. |
| Selena Ombrenoire03-29-06, 12:19 PM | 26) The good old 6th level spell: Flesh to Stone ! |
| Khael03-29-06, 12:35 PM | 26. Combine 10 and 11 (like the XPH suggested) but remember choose your new body with immortality in mind. |
| Dumat03-29-06, 09:31 PM | Move to the Astral Plane. no time. Every time you're about to die from old age, try to kill someone with your dying breath and make sure they kill you. You died in combat, and are thus perpetually eligible for res'ing. Die and become a petitioner on an outer plane. True mind switch a tarrasque. |
| snowstrider03-30-06, 11:05 AM | True mind switch a tarrasque. I think it's the Tarrasque. There is only one I think. 27? Never use your character. It cant die if it doesnt exist. |
| Draketh Fyyr03-30-06, 01:11 PM | 28: reach 10th level in the Cloud Anchorite prc from Frostburn |
| Need_A_Life03-30-06, 01:20 PM | Use Summon Undead and use a shadow to kill you! Get a friend to destroy it! Emancipated Spawn, here I come! |
| Swarms03-30-06, 05:41 PM | Eat 100 000 babies |
| Kresalak03-30-06, 05:48 PM | 14. Have someone permanently encase you in a zero degree kelvin block of ice, maybe an extremely powerful creature with the cold subtype. You'll be cryogenically preserved (and so, immortal) until a large number of atoms in your body succumb to radioactive decay or someone damages your body. One of the Laws of Thermodynamics states that Absolute Zero cannot be reached. Chalk one up to magic spitting in themodynamics face once again! |
| Dark_Druid03-31-06, 05:26 AM | 14. Have someone permanently encase you in a zero degree kelvin block of ice, maybe an extremely powerful creature with the cold subtype. You'll be cryogenically preserved (and so, immortal) until a large number of atoms in your body succumb to radioactive decay or someone damages your body. I thought 0 Kelvin was absolute zero. At which point all atoms and molecules in ANYTHING, would be completely stopped. Theories abound about what will happen at absolute zero, things could merely fall apart, atom by atom cause the motion that keeps them connected has ceased...this would undoubtably destroy the body, as well as the chamber you are frozen in. Also, at a certain point, like the point of a white dragon's breath, cold becomes damaging to the body. A couple degrees below zero would be suffiecient to keep you preserved and "alive" while, not doing any damage to you. Frogs to it in winter, freeze over and their hearts slow. They don't get below 0 degree's ever. Then again, in a magical world...whatever... It's late, I feel like being an arse. |
| Kerri_Evanwood03-31-06, 05:30 AM | 32. (?) Defy the conventional laws of nature. |
| Terraneaux03-31-06, 06:03 PM | 33. Use the Steal Life spell from the BoVD. 34. Set up a massive moneymaking operation that can operate without your oversight, and use it bankroll a near-infinite amount of rods of sanctuary. |
| Shemeska the Marauder03-31-06, 07:28 PM | 35. Find the Chronosphere of Lagos (an artifact mentioned several times in Planescape). 36. Become one of the Incantifers, a philosophical sect whose members scattered across the planes after the mazing of most of their faction. They devour magic, and in doing so they transcend normal mortality. 37. Get mazed by Her Serenity, The Lady of Pain (you don't age within the mazes). 38. Wish for eternal life before taking a drink from the River Styx... just ignore the snickers from the yugoloth who let you in on that little secret... *snicker* |
| Kresalak03-31-06, 07:41 PM | 39. Stick construct grafts onto yourself until your body functions have been replaced or obsoleted, and you no longer age. Or breathe. Or are counted as a living creature. 40. Warforged don't age, right? 41. Vat of Quintessance! 42. If you set enough things on fire, people will remember your name throughout the ages. |
| General_Ridley03-31-06, 07:59 PM | 43. Dry Lich 44. Necropolitan 45. Be a metallic dragon, and pump every point you can into charisma for as long as you can. Meanwhile, become a dragon ascendant just in case. |
| Roland Falantyr04-01-06, 08:25 AM | 46.) Take 10 levels in Elemental Savant |
| Khael04-01-06, 08:28 AM | 46.) Take 10 levels in Elemental Savant Does that one work? I never saw the bit about immortality, only that you become an elemental... |
| Roland Falantyr04-01-06, 12:00 PM | As far as i know, creatures of the Elemental type do not age. If someone is around who can confirm or deny this I would be interested as well now that you mention it. |
| Shemeska the Marauder04-01-06, 12:12 PM | Does that one work? I never saw the bit about immortality, only that you become an elemental... True elementals are immortal, but the end result of the elemental savant PrC compared to an actual elemental is more akin to a native outsider compared to a true outsider. A 10th level elemental savant is still going to be mortal, having a body/soul duality, etc. The wording is awkward though, so I suppose there's wiggle room if a DM was going to be very generous. |
| Roland Falantyr04-01-06, 12:22 PM | I could be mixing up the 3.0 and 3.5 descriptions but i seem to recall them mentioning something about the soul being kept outside of the elementals body. But its a funny write up..they mention all the technical qualities of becoming an elemental but they never mention anything about whether you age like one or not. Are there any precedents to help us out? What about heartwarder? do they get the lifespan of a fey once they change? |
| Beezelbob04-01-06, 01:38 PM | 47. Unstick yourself from the space/time continuum. |

Are there any precedents to help us out? What about heartwarder? do they get the lifespan of a fey once they change? The problem is there probably isn't any precedent for what happens when you shift alignment from a dual body-soul type to a combined body-soul type. Personally i feel the soul should stay where it is, otherwise we get all manner of weird type-based immortality. However based on the fact a monk can become ageless AND an outsider, but the ageless effect states the monk will die when their time is up, i would stick with elemental savants dies of old-age. |

The monk becomes a native outsider, not a true outsider, and that's a big distinction. Thus he retains his mortality, body/soul duality, etc. |
| Roland Falantyr04-01-06, 05:09 PM | Interesting..it just seems to me that the prc states that their type changes to Elemental. I dont think it says anything about being native outsider...and if you look at the changes to the body (no eating, sleeping, drinking, and no vitals apparently since they immune to crits) it just seems like they become full fledged elementals. |
| Swarms04-01-06, 05:33 PM | 47.) Be Doctor Who. |
| Kresalak04-01-06, 07:50 PM | Why do they force monks, druids, ect. to die when they would normally anyway? It makes no sense! |
| Altar_Boy04-01-06, 08:01 PM | 48. Be a Divine Crusader. 49. Be an Incandescent Champion 50. Every fifty years, Polymorph into a baby. :P |
| Frostbrand04-01-06, 10:36 PM | Why do they force monks, druids, ect. to die when they would normally anyway? It makes no sense! Yeah, cause the reason we Die, is because our Bodies get too old, because they have aged too much, but if they are Ageless, then how do there bodies, which are immune to diseas and poison and don't age, just randomly Shut Down? It really dosn't make sense, and thats why I house ruled anything that keeps you from taking Age Penalties makes you effectivly Immortal, until Wizards explains the reasoning other wise. Also: 51. Become a sentinent Operating Program in a virtual world.... (Since being a User in the Game you have been turned into Data, you don't age, as long as no one destroys the Main Computer you have taken up residence in. Think a TRON type World) |
| sneak_Blast04-01-06, 11:00 PM | Move to the Astral Plane. no time. Every time you're about to die from old age, try to kill someone with your dying breath and make sure they kill you. You died in combat, and are thus perpetually eligible for res'ing. Die and become a petitioner on an outer plane. True mind switch a tarrasque. That brings you back to your original body. Your life will still end by death. 52. Pair up with another high level druid. When you are about to die from old age, kill yourself and have your partner druid cast "Reincarnate" on you. It gets you a new body, but the same mind. Do the same for your partner. Only have to repeat the process everytime that your body becomes old. You live FOREVER!!! |
