This isn't so weird as much as funny, mainly because this guy now plays with me weekly. :)

39

him: You mean online right? Like World of Warcraft? I don't like those monthly fee things.
me: No.
him: Oh so its like the board game? Wow that is really nerdy.
me: Nah... one person just makes up the story and everyone else makes a character, then you fight by rolling dice and stuff.
him: AHAHAHAHA!! That is so **** nerdy. So some freak goes to his nerd cave and looks at internet Star Wars forums and looks like Cartman on the World of Warcraft episode of South Park, then invents his fantasy world with naked elves and beats off while taking a **** like Cartman. [. . .] Are you sure your glasses prescription is thick enough?

etc. :D I think it was mainly backlash because I refuse to play Warhammer with him.

My priest is a D&Der himself. A funny story (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=14189973&postcount=843) about that.

Let's necro it rather than start a new one, shall we?
My only weird response is posted there and I'm not going to repeat myself.

I was on the way home from a holiday by train, and I had a bag of stuff miniatures I'd bought with me. My single-serving-friend for the trip saw a few of the bits and said it was nice of me to pick up all those toy soldiers for my kids. I had to explain that some were mine, and the rest were for my dad! (I don't have kids.)

45)
"My wife plays too. Could you play with her?" he caught his statement and laughed.

46) "Look, my mom has read a lot about this game, and I've heard what she's said, and I'm worried about you." Said by the "Christian" girl who we were pretty sure slept with three different guys that week.

She said this to me while I was sitting at a desk, waiting for a performance to start (I was in a play), building a dwarf egoist for a guy named Matt, who played one of the leads. I have, in front of me, the PHB, DMG, MM, XPH, A&EG, and D&DG. I look at her and say "I've read a lot into the subject as well."

Dude, that priest is awesome. Although I do not believe in any particular religion I love to meet open-minded people like that. Heck, this makes me want to visit one of his sermons myself.

And I never said it was all religious people. I've played with everything from Muslim to Jewish players (in the same game!), so I understand the truth. So forgive me if anyone took offense to my post.

Quite a few players in my neighborhood had the same reaction. ;)

So have I. My gaming group in...oh, I guess it was 5th grade looked like a bad joke.

"So two Catholics, a Mormon, a Jew, a Muslim, a Buddhist, and two atheists walk into a game store...."
