| The_Virus07-11-07, 08:17 AM | kinda self explanatory. after you do something stupid in game, like accidentally help the bad guy with a spell you thought would help. give an excuse for that to the people that you're playing the game with. i'll start. 1. I thought the use of Colour spray would have worked well on that chain devil, how was I supposed to know that the troll/ally would get hit? (:cookie: for whoever knows where that's from and only about 8 people in the world do) |

| Avatar of Kokusho07-11-07, 08:29 AM | Scenario: Two fairly large white dragons on an icy hill. People: Me (wizard who should have been a specialist evoker) Ninja Monk Samurai Ranger The dragons were right next to each other, and breathing icy hell on the party...except for me, who generally stays in the rear and throws spells as a caster should. Me to DM: I want to shove a Twinned Delayed Blast Fireball right in between those stupid dragons. *waving Greater Metamagic Rod of Twin Spell* DM: How long are you going to delay it? Me; Hmm...two rounds, so they (my allies) can get away. DM: well, it's snowing, so visibility from 600 feet away isn't so hot. Spot check, so you can set them carefully. Me: (rolls spot, rolls like a 2) Uhm, guys... DM: You hit the monk in the back of the head with one of the seeds, and the explosion sets off the other one... Monk's player: Reflex save!! REFLEX SAVE!! DM: Improved Evasion or not, you STILL take half. She hit you with it directly. Monk's player: WTF @ the wizard, she's more dangerous than the dragons! DM: the rest of you should make saves, too... Samurai: Fail Ninja: ...I didn't roll a 1. Ranger: I DID roll a 1. $%#@! DM rolls for dragons... DM: In addition to the 40d6 fire damage, you are also covered in exploded dragon parts. Fort save to keep from barfing. Me: Well....I didn't see you guys up there...sorry? |
| TVirus07-11-07, 08:50 AM | 4. uhh...the bard did it!!! *runs away as everyone kills the bard* (thats the whole reason the bard is there isn't it? :D ) |

| ArtOfZen07-11-07, 09:50 AM | Player in a game I was DMing failed his saving throw against unconsiousness to a kobold with a blowgun. The kobold and his friend proceeded to rob the poor sorceror. When he awoke he was upset as to his missing belongings (especially his gold) and decided he was going to hunt them down (without telling the party I may add), using disguise self to get close. Realizing that he couldn't disguise himself successfully as a kobold (size and all that) he decided to go another route. Now here's the fun part. The execution of his plan. He waits for it to be his watch when they are camping and sneaks off. Now not only is he going off alone to kill the two kobolds who dropped him earlier, he is also leaving the party completely alone. So he decides he wants to blend in with the locals cuz he is alone after all, so he takes the form of a Lizardman, which the party had been hunting. Now he wants to climb a tree to get a better view of the landscape and maybe spot the nocturnal beasties. He proceeds to climb the tree and fails the check and a few others i might add, (sorcerors with 6 str's shouldnt go climbing unprepared :embarrass ) and comes crashing hard to the ground, which awakens the party. They proceed to inspect the noise and our brave hunter doesnt want to blow his cover so he doesnt respond, (this was a wtf moment). anyway upon making all this noise, seeing a lizardman outside of the camp who doesnt answer and having been in dire combat with them the whole day, the Order of the Bow we have, open fires and lays 2 arrows right into his back. At which point our hunter realizes his plan has failed and turns away the disuise. When asked by the other party members why he was a lizardman he responded... "I was hunting for kobolds." Funny also in part b/c the party never knew anything about the kobolds. |
| lobo210007-11-07, 12:47 PM | K this really isn't an excuse more of a very stupid act. DM: you enter a dark room with a pedestal in the middle. sitting on the pedestal is a swirling glass rod. Adam (Zerial the 10 lv. ranger): Umm i walk up to it and.......LICK IT DM: (Rolling for rod of wonder) The rod shoots out a lighting bolt that does ( rolling) 30 point of damage to u. Later they found out what it was and used it (By the sea) DM as you search the cove you notice a large fin jutting out of the water. Upon deeper inspection you identify it as a dire shark. ( party runs out of the water) Adam: i use the rod of wonders (rolling) DM: you cast a purple ray upon the shark and it is now a Purple dire shark. ( Brost was eating colorful goldfish crackers and the placed a purple on on the battle mat ... I have a picture of it) Later is the underwater cave dungeon DM: you enter a room with a large hole in the middle fill with water. dead bodies are every where broken and battered. As you search the room a large tentacal reaches out at you (we were fighting a krakan) Amanda: I use the rod of wonder on the kraken Rolling Many jewels fly out and land in the water Adam: crap Brost: I jump in (ok there is no excuse for that but lucky for him he survived) |
| WotC_Logan07-11-07, 01:00 PM | Amanda: I use the rod of wonder on the kraken Using a rod of wonder is rarely a good idea. We found one in Dave Noonan's Eberron game, and my chaos gnome warlock ended up with it. Turns out that's a bad idea. I ended up using it in what looked like a pretty simple encounter against a single monster. It dropped a stinking cloud that probably doubled the encounter's CR... When a chaos gnome stops using an item, you know it's too random. |
| Montravont07-11-07, 01:04 PM | 9. After accidentally hacking into Palpatine's account in Star Wars.. "Oops?" |
| calronmoonflower07-11-07, 01:05 PM | "I'm Chaotic Neutral!" "I'm Chaotic" is another one. |
| Sunic_Flames07-11-07, 01:16 PM | "I'm Chaotic" is another one. Also "I'm Evil!" and "I'm a paladin!"... come to think of it any alignment could be plugged in there. |
| Skoll07-11-07, 02:18 PM | My old campaign: The PCs were hiding behind a ridge as 300 enemy soldiers marched down the major road toward the frontlines of the war. 1 PC: "I'm gonna shoot an arrow at them!" Me: "There's 300 of them! Why?" PC: "I wanna see if i can hit them." 5 of them beat him up and stole all his money and weapons. I was nice that day... |

| darkneolink07-11-07, 02:31 PM | We were playing in a star wars themed campaign... we were suposed to destroy a base of the Rebels (pre Jedi purge) we divided the party my 3 buddys went inside the base and I (as the only one who could pilot a starcraft) stood outside as suport for our troos (and distraction) after a while they comunicated with me via the intercom to notify me that the original plan (getting to the core and putting bombs there as they lost the bombs in an encounter) so I quickly made a plan that would make me the great hero of the day Me: well... send me the cordinates of the core room Player: why? Me: just do it... and get out of there... quick *Sends me the coordinates then I fly over the buildingand made a shoot to make a hole in the roof Me: how much do I need to get it through the hole DM: *insert number here* *I shoot and I fail (twice) and managed to make the hole bigger Me: well... as I'm flying in direct line as I was expecting to fly up at the last minute making it more heroic (we had bonus for cynematics) I'll just explell me out of the cabin while letting the ship crashwith the core and make a big boom DM: you sure? Me: yeah... whats the worst that could happen? *One nat 20 on the attack and 2 party members badly injured and 7 padawans death because of the explosion later ME: it seemed like a good plan in my head |
