I created this thread so there could be a compiled list of fancy cool sayings for when you want to say something spooky, interesting, or funny. post any saying you can think up or have heard that is Evil and refers to necromancery, death, disease, destruction, and general ungoodness.
so ill start it out.

1. Evil is a dull deary affair, and my advice to you is to have nothing whatsoever to do with it.
2.evil will always defeat good because good is stupid :P

You can serve me alive, or you can serve me dead.

Would you care to assist me in my researches? (Since a necromancer could be researching pain, brain transplants, the effects of electrical stimulation of muscles, the amount of time it takes a person to starve to death... pretty ominous)

8.You may be killed, now but you won't be for long
9. Death is coming for you pathetic fool killed by your own morales you have led yourself and your followers into certain doom, The last thing thru your mind will be of how miserable you failed. (just to make it true spice it up by a suggestion making it happen) (and if they get cocky afterwards a horrid wilting sets em rite)

I'll try not to get too wordy with these:

10. Evil? I am not evil. Don't Trouble me with these childish notions. Evil and good are only significant in context to whatever circumstances underlie the society that is in power at the moment you are using the terms. When my taks here is done, I am afraid you, my coeval audience, will be the evil ones, and me the hero.

11. It is small minded people like you who prefer to believe the judgement of the gods to direct the lives of mortals. Well then, yield your will before my throne, for I am your god now.

12. (gesturing to the legion of zombies following him/her) See these people? First I charmed them. Then I led them. Then I doomed them. Then I broke them. Then I slaughtered them. Then i raised them and bent them to my will more strongly then ever. Do you believe your puny lives matter more to me than any of their's did?

13. The Druids say that death is part of the natural cycle, but that undeath creates needless predators. I say, we need all the predators we can get, as long as I am on top.

14. He who opposes me will find himself knee deep in the blood of his children and made himself deserving of an abode in hell.

15. I have heard that they call me the soul-eater. Test your mettel against me and see for your selves if I deserve such a grandiose name.

16. Long ago, I learned that fear was the most basic and primal of mortal emotions, and thus the easiest to control. I have spent a lifetime studying the crafting of it, learning how to shape fear in creatures such as yourselves like how a potter shapes clay. In many ways it is my artistic talent, though it is a morbid one. Yet, as hard as I worked, I cannot seem to shape fear in you, even after you plumbed the horrific depths of my sanctum. Why is that? I feel as if I should remedy this. (Starts casting some dreadful spell)

19. Those idiot clerics of the Blood of Vol said that I wasn't wise enough to understand the divine powers over life and death! I spent years mastering the mysteries of undeath on my own, without help from any gods. I'll show those fools!

(just wondering whether some necromancers might feel bitter that an evil but non-specialized cleric is usually a better necromancer than an actual specialist necromancer.)

20. Don't blame me. You choose a life of pain and suffering when you became a questing adventurer, rather than becoming an advocate or merchant or some other such sane occupation. Maybe when you were a pretentious teenager you thought it would make life more meaningful or some such hogwash. Well I'm going to make your life very meaningful right now.

19: Welcome welcome, do come in why don't you! Allow me to introduce myself and associates. I am Joyce Everclear. And these are my friends, Mr. Rend-a-bone. And Mr. Eviceration. Would you like to play with us?

20: Once upon a midnight dreary, I pondered weak and weary amidst a column of volumnious forgotten lore, nearly napping, until a raven came a tapping, then I killed it and recreated it to suit my morbid whims. Thus it now quotes...

Your house, I shall follow to the tenth generation, slaying each and everyone once the... merciful gods have blessed them with children. Unto ten generations back from you, I shall tear the souls of your ancestors from their rest and devour them likewise. All that you hold dear I shall turn to dust, and ashes, and mockeries of what it once was. This I most solemnly swear before all the Powers of the lower planes! Asmodai, Baal, Tiamat, Demogorgon, heed thy servant's call!

45: I have spent ages mastering the forces that controll the mundane lives of the world. I've come to understand the infinite. Life, time, it's become a river that I can damn at will. I have mastered death, what is there that you could do to hurt me?

46: Brightmage, you claim that winds of chaos that grant me power are tainted, how more tainted are they then your weak grasp on the universe?
Whereas you take only a small portion of power, limited by what your order has told you is safe, I am unbound. No longer limited by your laws of death and agony.
There is no power in the 'verse that can stop me now.

48: Nothing ruins your day like a flaming zombie.

49: See me and dispair, feel me and die!

124) Necromancer: I have grown tired of your voice, Human. Prepare to have your soul weep from your eyes! *To Undead slave* Throw him into the pit of Decay and Mortification!

Slave: Uhhh... you turned the Pit of Decay and Mortification into the Carnival of Souls last week, Lord.

Necromancer: Oh; well... what pits do we have now?

Slave: Ummmm... *pulls out list* The only ones not full now are the Pit of Fluffity Obese Bunnies and the Pit of Rending Chains of Evisceration.

Necromancer: Ah... Why do I have the Bunny Pit again?

Slave: You like the feel of their fur and their floppitiness, Lord.

Necromancer: That's right, I remember... To the Pit of Chains with him!

Human: F***.

125) This thing you refer to as life... I once held it. I saw it's structure as clear as I see you now. It was flawed; I saw it in its whole, hollow and useless. I saw the spectrum of life as well, all facets and turns. The twists, trinkets, passions and limitations. I saw how to uproot it, to take its very essence and inverse all the weaknesses and flaws. To take the thinnest points, and through my magic make them strengths. Do you not wish for the same? To bring hope and power to all life? The flesh hardened and sinew tightened... the mind sharpened through focus, and the eyes keener through time, is this... immortaility not what we all seek? The answer is yes. I do not abominate life; I enhance it. Come, embrace the absolute power all mortal beings crave, join me and see clearer than you ever will.

126) Sword. Down. Now.

127) Necromancer Your soul.

Human What about it?

Necromancer I want it.

128) Necromancer Oh that? That's actually a really interesting machine. It makes the worlds best hot chocolate ever. Don't believe me? Well try it! I swear it's got nothing to do with the bound Planetar over there... Honestly! The pipes simply go near him so he can have hot chocolate as well. What's written on the side? Well, that's Infernal for the word 'Plot'.

Hero So this is the... 'plot device'?

Necromancer ........Yes.

Hero Oh. Okay! *pulls lever*

139: Faustus: "Darling always likes it when I'm looking my best."
NPC: "You have a lover, Faustus?"
Faustus: "Oh yes, haven't you seen her?" *opens the suitcase he's carrying which has a human skeleton in it* "Darling, say hello to our hostess"

140: "Oh, we can't kill him yet, noooo...I like to hear them scream, and see them bleed, it's ever so fun..."

141: "Oh, Darling was so scared, she thought that acid would reduce her to bare bones..."

Non-Faustus quotes:

142: "Necromancy isn't evil. It's a tool, just like your sword, or your friend's healing. None of these things are truly good or evil...how it's used, however, make it so.

Now do I use Necromancy for evil? Well, I think you already know the answer to that..."

143: "Death is but a doorway, time but a window. I'll be back"

144: "Why did I choose to be a necromancer? Because magic is the ultimate art. Because death is the ultimate force in this world. Demons, devils, and even your precious angels can die. And it's been said that gods themselves can die. Everything that has ever existed in this plane has one thing in common: one day, they will die. Nothing is more powerful than death. And that is why I am a necromancer. Do you understand now?"

160: *gesturing to some slavering undead monstrosity* I see the sight of my companion makes you nervous. I tell you the truth when I say you have little to fear from him, for he may only rive the body. His power over you ceases at that fleeting instant when the soul, that intangible essence that penetrates every fiber of your being, driving you onward to love, to hate, to live; that moment when that essence is severed from your now mort flesh. Again I tell you the truth when I tell you that you would do well to fear me, for while my companion's powers are limited to the scope of this mortal coil, mine truly come into their prime during that moment. I tell you the truth a third time; during that fleeting moment, I will capture that essence, preventing your gentle repose in whatever plane towards which you strive. I will capture that pith of your being, and in my hands it will achieve true beauty, for while in you it was wasted, under my careful ministrations it will blossom into a higher form of being, undying.

Come to me, my little hero; act as the canvas under my artist's touch. Let me show you the macabre exquisiteness that defines my being, yet you so ignorantly lable "necromancy". If I do not kill you, time will kill you for me. And either way you will be mine.

Time to wake up now.

Let me fix what nature got wrong.

The black lightning withering your body? Birth pangs, that's all.

"Respect the sanctity of life?" Why should I respect something so fleeting and imperfect?

I know why you have come for me: envy. You envy the immortality and power I have bestowed upon myself. You would cast aside frail mortality and do the same, but you are too weak of stomach. And in this knowledge, you cannot bear to see another revel in that which you lack. But even though you now draw your sword and swear to destroy me, I forgive you your faults. Nay, more: I offer you the chance to fight past your fear, ascend, and join me in that most glorious and enduring of states. All you have to do is lie down and die.

You can stop praying, foolish priest. There's nobody up there, waiting to save you. There's nobody to save your friends, whose cold hands hold you fast even now. There's nobody, nothing left between you and this.

*sigh* They never get used to it. Too bad for them.

Meh heh heh! I am evil! *twirls imaginary mustache*

You made it all the way to me? Impressive. I take my hat--no, I take my head off to you fellows. And etiquette insists you do the same.

Since you're about to die, I might as well tell you where you went wrong. The third word was "nikto."

*cough cough* I am allergic to life. Let me get my meds. *picks up ominous staff*

This is no place for one so full of life as you...or do you say that you wish to join the dead?...That is fine. --LoZ: MM

You will love your new life. You will love it because I will say that you love it. And you will not possibly be able to disagree. After all, I am...what I am...and you will be...a mockery, barely worthy of undeath. Had you been more cooperative, I might not have been so harsh in assigning you a second form. Are you sorry now? On second thought, do not answer. You are sorry. You are sorry because I say you are sorry. You already feel it, do you not? Of course you do. Enjoy your new life.

I won't bother making you scream now. Once you are dead, I can listen to your screams until the end of time.

That is awesome.

Thanks, and yes it was fun. Here is what I said to them. Keep in mind that they already lost their ranger to a bone claw that critted her earlier in their adventure through the castle. (Hey, it was a lucky roll) They left her corpse on the floor a level below them. So naturally the bbeg minions brought the corpse to him. Now she is on the side of the bbeg.

In a nutshell, somewhat-

After welcoming the PCs into my lair-

me: <While nonchalantly sitting on his throne with both feet propped up and crossed at the ankle on a zombie that is on its hands and knees> When I was a child my favorite dog was run over by the carriage of a nobleman. It was then that I learned of death. Now the noblemen who killed my dog serves me <gestures to the footstool> and my precious Zeke is no longer rotting in the ground. Heal Zeke! <Enter huge undead dog with various extra appendages sewn on> <now my BBEG vampire necromancer has a ghost dog. neat.>

PCs: Something to the effect of "Whatever bad guy! We will crush you!" They were sort of caught off guard by how creepy I set the scene. And by how their ranger friend was an undead minion now. And the party rogue was hiding behind a column. She would not give up her awesome hide and sneak she rolled to speak up.

me: This thing you refer to as life... I once held it. I saw its structure as clear as I see you now. It was flawed; I saw it in its whole, hollow and useless. I saw the spectrum of life as well, all the facets and turns, the twists, trinkets, passions and limitations. I saw how to uproot it, to take its very essence and inverse all the weaknesses and flaws. To take the thinnest points, and through my magic make them strengths, do you not wish for the same? Do you not wish to bring hope and power to all life? The flesh hardened and sinew tightened... the mind sharpened through centuries of focus, and the eyes keener through time, is this... immortality not what we all seek? The answer is yes. I do not abominate life; I enhance it. Come, embrace the absolute power all mortal beings crave, join me and see clearer than you ever will.

PCs: :noway: (party druid: :plotting: )

Me: (after seeing the druids look of consideration) The Druids say that death is part of the natural cycle, but that undead create needless predators. I say, we need all the predators we can get, as long as I am at the top of the chain. Join me and we will rule the very Krakens of the sea as our pets young druid. Don't you want to command your elders with the power of undeath! Where you see death, I see life! Where you have given up, I endure! Where you abandon your friends to the grave, I raise them to a second chance in this world. (Motioning to their now vampiric ranger)Between us, who is the true friend?! Who is loyal?! (Their ranger answers "You are my lord, everything you showed me was true. They left me on the cold floor and stripped my corpse for my goods and coins!")

Druid: YES! I want to join you!

Me: Yes!?

Druid: YES!

Me: Then step up to my throne and take your seat next to me.

OOC: I need your miniature and your character sheet. (He hands them over)

Party:

And I had no idea that it would turn out this way either. Just goes to show that as a DM you have to be able to improvise sometimes.

Druids tempt to evil so easily. Ages back, while fighting a vampire BBEG, our party druid took a bit of sweet talking from the vamp and flame striked the party.

"All your base are belong to us" (often referred to as "All Your Base" or abbreviated AYBABTU, AYBAB2U, or simply AYB) is an Engrish phrase that sparked an Internet phenomenon in 2001 and 2002. The text is taken from the opening cut scene of the English version of the 1989 Japanese video game Zero Wing by Toaplan. While the translation was generally poor, this phrase stood out as particularly humorous.
The well-known quotations were taken from the European localization of the Sega Mega Drive port released in 1992. The arcade version of Zero Wing does not include the quote, though it does include an equally butchered ending. Zero Wing was never released in North America and therefore never came to the Sega Genesis, the North American version of the Mega Drive.

That was how last session ended. The BBEG left with his new minions and they are still in his castle. Since I know one of the players read the boards I don't want to let out what is in store next. They will be able to survive but I want it to be a surprise.

That quote is completely inappropriate here! Our president has never been known to cast spells from any school, let alone Necromancy! ;)

208 (paraphrased from WotSQ). Why do you profess to hate evil? You would think differently if you only understood it. Evil is one of the fundamental foces of Creation, a force that engenders strength and will. It makes sentient beings aspire to wealth and power. It enables them to subjugate, rob, kill, and deceive. It allows them to do whatever is required to better themselves without a single crippling trave of remorse. Thus, evil is responsible for the very existence of civilization and all the great deeds of your so-called heroes. Without evil, all the peoples of the world would live like animals. I find it astonishing that so many races, blinded by false--"goodly"--religions and prophecies, have lost sight of this self-evident truth.

Pardon me, monsieur, you won't be needing this no more.
Shouldn't be to hard to mould.
Add it to the horde! Add it to the stock!
Here among the evil dead a breath away from hell
You get accustomed to the smell.

Well, someone's got to raise them up--my friends--
Bodies in the graveyard, law and order tumbling down.
Someone's got to raise up these odds and ends
Ere the conquest of the town.

Here's an onyx jewel! And a dying fool!
Wouldn't want to waste him; that would really be a crime.
Thank you sir, I'm in your debt.
Here's a little toy! Animate the boy!
His heart's no longer going and he's lived his little time,
But his body's working yet.

Well, someone's got to raise them up--my friends--
Before the little harvest is interred into the mud.
Someone's got to raise up these odds and ends
When the gutters run with blood.

It's a world where the ghouls eat the dogs,
Where I raise up the bones in the street,
And the gods in their heavens, they don't interfere
'Cause they're dead as the stiffs at my feet!

I raise my eyes to see the heavens and only the moon looks down!
The harvest moon shines down!

I'm so very yoinking this one. Love it. If this doesn't give a PC pause, either he's deaf or utterly evil.

I think an EVIL necromancer does kill plenty of living people. That's why they are "evil" and not just a necromancer.

395: Dying is simply a bad excuse to stop working.

396: Life is like a thousand candles placed below a starless sky, each glowing with energy, each shinning into the void beyond, such beauty such delicate beauty, would i not be more a villain did i not do this? would i not be a fool if i did not weave the flames, THAT was my art, i weaved the flames of life, from which all else springs, i molded it in my hands, and then i ascended, does the artist not scuff at the work of lesser men? at the failed painting of a child, how can i then respect this flame, this LIFE when i have created flames of my own, when i have weaved the very void, when i have forced that which is not to shine brighter then life itself!

I turn the darkend sky into a flaming sea!

I light the stars while others fiddle with candles!

Life is my art, and death.. is my tool.

Pale Master Tatsel Ganav says...

397) Yanking souls really isn't all that hard. It's all in the wrist.
398) Pally: "You summon unholy mockeries of life to do your bidding. What's there not to hate?"
Tatsel: "My bidding."
((note: he is trying to gain the pally's trust and corrupt her, not be a nice guy - Tatsel is more horribly evil than the BBEGs in a lot of his games))
399) Explaining why the paladin should not assume him to be evil, "Does the light not shine brightest in the darkest night? Sometimes the greatest cloaks itself with the most vile of evils..."
400) Fighter: "Why do I seem to attract freaks?"
Tatsel: "You are assuming me a freak, because I have a fractured mind, am addicted to a nice weed, and use unorthodox magic? How are you to know that I did not lead a traumatic childhood, or terrible life, and use such a drug to numb the pain? That would be a relatively normal type of thing for person. As would someone using necromancy, especially in Karrnath. Am I truly such a freak, or do I simply not fit your personal world view of Eberron?"
401) Tatsel built a skeletal horse, "Ah! Any excess equipment, shove it in my horse. He doesn't mind, does he Bonnie Jack David Earl Fill Gerard Harrie Ickabod Kurt Paul Larry Matt Neville Orville Calving Quebert Richard Sweet Tart Ungridge Vick William Xanthas You Zack Albert?" We've taken to calling the horse 'Alphabet.'
401) "POKE OF DEATH!" *casts maximized inflict moderate wounds*

Glad you appreciate it.

Not necessarily; he may raid graveyards and use them to establish a harsh dictatorship, traffic in the slavery and torture of the living as well as the dead, political maneuvering to take over a nation (think 'evil grand vizier' from stereotyped fantasy), summon and abuse the souls of the dead for his own ends, and any number of other evil acts without actually directly killing anyone.

And even if he does... What keeps him from saying that anyway? Evil generally isn't known for honesty if a lie will get them an advantage.

Hard to create a dictatorship, make slave raids, or take over a nation without killing at least a few people. Even if he hasn't killed them himself, he was certainly ordered his minions to kill many of his enemies.

Hard to create a dictatorship, make slave raids, or take over a nation without killing at least a few people. Even if he hasn't killed them himself, he was certainly ordered his minions to kill many of his enemies.

One of the greatest abilities of the sentient mind is the ability to rationalize things, and either refuse blame (I merely told them to do something; how they did it is not my fault) or take on too much blame (I said I would protect them, and I failed when the tornado tore apart the entire village! I don't deserve to live for this failure!)

In his own mind, anyone who uses the line I gave may very well be using the first rationalization; he didn't directly kill anyone, so his hands are clean.

Of course, if he works for someone else, his hands might be metaphorically clean because he simply takes the corpses they give him and does things with them, rather than making his own, as well.

This is one of those things where you can really argue either way, depending on which viewpoint you choose to look at it from, though. From the standpoint of the alignment system, I agree that anyone doing most of those deeds would be guilty of killing, if only by proxy. From the point of internal rationalization, the necromancer could probably absolve himself of any blame with the right line of logic. This sort of thing usually starts with the concept of 'for the greater good', after all...
