1. Turn based combat.

2. Dungeons
3. Dragons

We know it isn't realistic. Otherwise we'd be lurking on the Rolemaster boards (and possibly not even then).

I could say that the Turn-Based Combat excuse is stupid as being unrealistic because in fact it isn't. Turn-Based is only so that everyone can do stuff..in the game world itself it all happens at the same time..people are moving back and forth, attacking, moving while casting, etc.

Otherwise only the loudest person at the game table would be able to fight anything if it wasn't based on turns.

16. There are no lawyers classes or PrC's in the game.

17. There is no g.s.t or v.a.t inclusive prices in any of the hand books.

18. Adventurers loot is never taxed.

19. you can ride a horse at full speed thru town and not get a ticket.

20. There is no such thing as divorce in the game.

I guess this makes practically every single board or table top game unrealistic. I know of no table top or board game that isn't turn based.

25. No fast food.

26. Bows can be strung all the time.

27. Chainmail Bikini can actually protect you (if enchanted with the proper spells)

28. You can raise the dead.

29. A high level fighter can have literally 30-40 arrows sticking out of hime and still move and fight at 100% or close to it.

Actually having been fencing for several years combat can be regarded as a turn-based thing. Especially in the one-on-one combats frequent in d&d. One person attacks, the other defends. Then the first either presses the attack or withdraws to defend against the counter-attack and so on.

Think Bill Gates..and he isn't even a high level adventurer..he is just good at getting everyone else to do the work for him. 36.) Zombies do not eat people, and everyone knows they do.

37.) No hall monitors.

38.) No warning labels on anything.

39) Magic users are accepted parts of most societies who are walking around with abilities to make stone (stone wall), food (create food and water, or plant growth every year), and other products at a low low cost that would seriously mess up the economy and either they won't, don't (even though it would make them stiking rich), or the economy doesn't feel a thing.

40) Mind flayers are regarded as stronger than zombies though by logic the later is higher in the (brain) food chain.

Larry and gang: Uggghhugghhhh
Mind Flayer: Hold pitiful humans! (mind blast)
Larry and gang: (keeps advancing) uggghhhuggghhhh
Mind Flayer: Meh, I'll eat your brains (CHOMPS!)
Larry and gang: (Keeps advancing, swarms and grapple Mindflayer)
Mind Flayer: What is this rotten... Wait! you guys aren't drooling barbarians!
Larry and gang: BRAINS! (eats squid-brain)
Gnomish Zombie

11-25-04, 06:15 PM
41) Sneak attack can be quite weird at time, with sizes and all. Try this: Monk1/rogue5/Assassin5. Polymorphed into a bunny. Now unarmed strike the unexpecting fellows with a death attack and a stunning blow...
The only problem is reaching vital spots... (no problem for sitting ennemies)
EDIT: More seriously, try a halfling with a dagger vs a colossal Great Wyrm. That dagger isn't long enough to get throught the skin and to the vitals without the whole halfling following it in the hole.

42) Thrown gerbil fighter. Based on the D&D principle that if someone puts down his guard, it leaves an oppening for you to hit him (AoO) and his buddy with a cleave. Get a fighter with Great cleave and combat reflexes, a commoner with a bag of gerbils, and a BBEG. Commoner throws gerbils next to fighter, who gets AoO from movement through threatened areas. Cleaves on BBEG.

43) Undeads with minds are immune to mind-affecting spells. Even if they don't specifically affect the brain or something.

And I can't play a zombie.
Kaya Kenobi

11-25-04, 06:51 PM
44.) Somehow a bag of rats with a whirlwind and great cleave attack equals a million attacks in 6 seconds... NOT!

45.) The fact that spells, planes, and other things isn't realistic..

Let's go to realism: The weapons and armor represent real weapons and armor.. Not the magical ones of course, since that's not realistic.

46. PCs never have to go to the bathroom at inopportune moments.
47. Dragons are often the wealthiest creatures in any area, have lifespans of thousands of years, are highly intelligent, and love treasure and money -- yet they don't form banks, guilds, corporations, or other organizations to amass the ridiculous amounts of wealth that they could glean considering their longevity.
48. Gnomes that don't wear pointy red hats and loiter on your front lawn making it look all tacky.
Sucineri

11-26-04, 02:25 AM
47..blah blah lots of stuff

Makes perfect sense..they are insane for treasure..and if they tried to make groups to protect the money, it would escalate into a huge fight with one dragon being left alive and inheritting all the combined stuff.

Dragons live so long because they don't have anything really but other dragons to worry about..and since a dragon can kill another dragon, a dragon wouldn't wanna try to kill another dragon for the sake of possibly being killed itself by said dragon. Therefor, they need to stay away from eachother. :)

49. The difference between a Light Crossbow and a Heavy Crossbow is that the Heavy requires a system of pulleys to pull the string back, and this gives it a slower rate of fire.

MRE's are not made 'o iron. The type I used to get tasted way better than iron. Er... okay... a little better.

Those bleach and ammonia things are components of a complete poison. And anyway since when did chemistry get involved in D&D?

Iron rations. Okay here, who can eat iron? Though obviously made in jest, I thought y'all might find some info on iron rations (http://www.gwpda.org/memoir/ration.html) interesting.

Funny, Cato deletes something that doesn't harm anything and is the truth and completely factual (not opinion), and doesn't delete a lethal combination of household products.

Priceless!

...However, if you attach a magazine to one, it becomes a "Heavy Repeating Crossbow" which can be cocked with a lever.

And pulling that lever to **** the S.O.B. would be as slow. Or did you fail to notice that the repeating crossbow was a light crossbow? And that pulling the lever back was the same motion as drawing the string back, with the added convienience of it automatically dropping a quarrel into firing positioin? Simply adding the magazine assembly does little for the crossbows that require pulleys and winches to ****. So, in this case it isn't the game that's unrealistic, it's your extrapolation.

How about this for a substitute.

IRL, you can still buy rat poison off the shelf, IIRC, and it should work quite nicely on humans. Bleach and ammonia are pretty poisonous in and of themslelves; just drinking a tumbler of either would reveal that.

Also, just because it's D&D doesn't mean that chemistry doesn't exist or work.

Unless, of course, you assume that everything in your game world that depends upon chemical reactions, from thinking to the burning of flammables to the digestion of food to spiderwebs & catepillar silk, rusting metals or rotting organics, alchoholic beverages, drugs and poisons is due to magic.

That might be an interesting homebrew to play in for about a half an hour.

Maybe.

1. Turn based combat. well i just wanted to add something, im not saying DND is real or anything, but its not technically turn based combat, people have an order in witch they react, basically after everyone has taken their action in combat, 1 round has gone by. So everything kinda happens within 6 seconds. Then round 2

Maybe.

You taken chemistry lately? The knowledge possessed of even the most advanced technogeek in the D&D 'verse everything is magic or magical or divine or spiritual. I didn't see the periodic table in the PHB, or did I miss something? This homebrew is the standard game we all play.

You're right about paladins not having to be nice. No one has to be nice, even here.
