Back when D&D came out, there were some conversion guidelines for converting AD&D characters to version 3.
Some characters I truely loved, but that were well into epic, got filed away, since there wasn't the material available for epic play.
My booklet is long since gone, but I want to dig the characters out and update them, since our campaign is now powerful enough that these retired heroes won't unbalance things.
Does anyone know if the conversion guide is on the web anywhere?

In short: forget it. The best way to convert characters from AD&D to 3E is to built an entirely new character with approximately the same level while trying to stay close to the original character concept. A one-for-one conversation usually doesn't work very well.

Vanamir has steered you in the right approach. Conversion from 2e to 3e is concept, not mechanics formula in nature.

Pennarin has pointed you to the conversion document. Edit: the link is to the 3.5 update. I believe the 2e to 3e conversion document is no longer on the website.

If your old character was an epic level ranger, build an epic level ranger. Keep the same preferred weapons and armor. Build the rest from concept.

I need the same thing. I want to update Return to the Tomb of Horrors to 3.5, but I dont know how...

Help. By the way that link shows how to update from 3.0 to 3.5, not from 2e to 3e
