3.0 to 3.5 [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-19-07, 10:42 AM After reading a thread on here about how many 3.5 books...I was surprised that so many people said something along this line: No 3.5 books...I still play 3.0.

So, my question is why? Why do you like 3.0 better than 3.5?

I don't want a bunch of flaming here....just intellectual conversation about why they like 3.0 over 3.5, please.

It is probably something to do with cost - if you have bought a load of 3.0 books and you are happy playing with them, why bother spending more cash for new books that may not make your gameplay any more fun?

02-19-07, 04:03 PM Cost and time is the reason for me. But even so, I'm using the 3.5 SRD to do a rolling upgrade for 3.5 elements I like, such as expanded racial and class abilities.

02-19-07, 04:34 PM I've been playing 3.5 for over two years now. I switched from 2E to 3.0 over a year after it came out, so it was only a matter of two years (or less) for me when 3.5 was released. I waited probably a year before I finally switched to 3.5. The biggest reason for me was a combination of cost and general bitterness. I thought the idea of an upgrade at that point reflected terribly on WotC. I figured they did it for one (or both) of two reasons:

Poor playtesting and bad editing (which means they could have waited another year before putting out 3.0, which would essentially be 3.5), and/or
To make money. I understand they're a business, but pumping out another new edition (or half an edition) that soon seemd too greedy for my tastes.

Anyway, after a year of cooling off, I decided to switch to 3.5, and I've been fairly happy with the changes they made. I image a lot of the people still playing 3.0 have some of the same resentments.
