03-31-06, 12:06 PM what is the difference between the 3.0 ruleset and the 3.5 ruleset? I have the player's handbook, dm guide and monster's manual from the 3.0 set and i was looking at buying the new core books but when i looked inside they're almost identical. Are there enough changes to warrant purchasing the new ruleset?

First impressions can be deceiving. There are lots and lots of changes, most of them very small and easily overlooked.

Generally, I like the 3.5 version better than 3.0, but if you've been used to playing with the 3.0 ruleset, it's fiendishly difficult to adapt, since you always keep remembering how the rules used to be. Maybe it's just me, but unless I look up each and every little thing, I'm in danger of mixing them up.

One additional caveat: Don't get the 3.5 version of the books, unless each of the player's in your gaming group use them as well, otherwise the confusion gets even worse.
