| Alinda_Shipsail308-16-06, 09:58 PM | Hey y'all. ;) Tommorow I'm going game-shopping to get what few books I need and I was wondering: For MM & DMG...should I get 3.5? Or is there better versions? Thanks! |
| bytor423208-16-06, 10:22 PM | For Dungeons and Dragons, you need the three core books: Players Handbook Dungeon Masters Guide Monster Manual 3.5 is the most current edition, and most likely the version your going to find in most stores. I like it, and is the edition most people are playing right now. |
| Board_Rider08-16-06, 10:44 PM | As bytor mentioned 3.5 is the current version and currently supported. Check out amazon.com for the core three (the Monster Manual, DMG, Players Handbook) at a reduced rate. As for this new version being the best version out there, that is up to debate. |
| pukunui08-16-06, 10:52 PM | 3.5 is the only version of the core books you'll be able to buy new, although you can still find some older used material on websites like amazon.com and trollandtoad.com. |
| Natural_2008-16-06, 11:00 PM | Based on your other posts, you already have the 3.5 Player's Handbook. so yes, getting the 3.5 Monster Manual and 3.5 Dungeon Master's Guide is what you should do. unless of course you like having books that don't work together. It's worth noting that a Monster Manual or Dungeon Master's Guide With Roman Numerals in the title is a supplement and is NOT necessary. In other words, go ahead and buy the 3.5 MM and DMG, it's the best choice based on what you've already got and the best use for your money right now. EDIT: Please note that in the introcuction and (usually) on the back of the cover, each 3.5 supplement says that you need the 3.5 DMG, PHB, and MM to use the material within. So please, for goodness sake, buy those first. |
