It is that time of year, but I'm not limiting this to 2007; it's the whole 2000-2007 run of 4th edition (sure, Stormreach will be awesome, but I think we can start the lists without it). This is primarily for WotC stuff, but I'll make my own 3rd party publishers list too. Please add your own lists. I'd love to see what other people think and reminisce about 3rd's great run. So, without further ado, here are my lists... The top ten products (or, the books I just keep coming back to): 1) The Eberron Campaign Setting 2) Underdark 3) Unearthed Arcana 4) Heroes of Horror 5) Player's Handbook II 6) Ghostwalk 7) Magic of Incarnum (Don't hate me, the idea really was cool) 8) Complete Arcane 9) Races of Destiny 10) Manual of the Planes The top five Eberron books: 1) Sharn: City of Towers 2) Dragonmarked 3) Secrets of Sarlona 4) Player's Guide to Eberron 5) Dragons of Eberron The top five FR books: 1) Underdark 2) Lost Empires of Faerun 3) Races of Faerun 4) Unapproachable East 5) Magic of Faerun Honorable Mention goes to Monsters of Faerun (Much of it was superseded by later products) The top five pre-3.5 books: 1) Manual of the Planes 2) Tome and Blood 3) Arms and Equipment Guide 4) Epic Level Handbook 5) Masters of the Wild The top five monster books: 1) Lords of Madness 2) Liber Mortis 3) Monsters of Faerun 4) Fiend Folio 5) Monster Manual II (it grows with age) Wild Cards (the stuff I'd pick up for a little something different): 1) Expedition to Castle Ravenloft 2) Dragon Magic 3) Miniatures Handbook (Yes, I'm serious) 4) Oriental Adventures 5) Complete Mage The top five not WotC Products 1) Almost anything Ravenloft from Arthaus (in particular the Gazeteers) 2) Midnight 3) The Scarred Lands anything (particularly Hollowfaust and the Divine and the Defeated) 4) Arcana Unearthed 5) Advanced Bestiary from Green Ronin So those are my top picks, perhaps with a slightly different order if I thought longer about it.
