3rd person? 1st person? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-05-07, 07:29 PM Alrite, this will sound like a really weird question... but when you guys roleplay your character... do you guys talk in third person or first? I talk in first, but in my other campaign theres a player with two characters.... and talking in first owuld be confusing.... yet on the other hand... if he talked in third person about his character... it would totally screw over the roleplaying element of the game and make his attachment to his character(s) weaker....

any advice?
and what do you guys do?

If it is insisted upon that I limit my narrative style, I prefer to use 4th person future pluperfect tense couched in iambic septameter.

But seriously folks, why should you limit the way a player cares to express themselves in this sense?

When I am face to face, it is 1st. But I find it much harder to roleplay face to face. I don't know, just makes me feel funny or something.

From a certain standpoint usage of the 4th person (provided that we are talking about the obviate and not some other 4th person) would make some sense, owing to the fact that the characters are incapable of being real. Sadly, English does not have an obviate pronoun set, so I am forced to make use of the Algonquin.
