08-27-07, 02:20 PM I can't happen to notice the huge amount of threads being locked. I also can't help but notice that the majority of the topics are not directly covered in the strict locked 4e existing posts. Maybe they should allow us to post our own threads in the 4e forum or let the legidiment comments stay where they are.

So who here is with me before they lock this one too?

08-27-07, 02:37 PM It has barely been two weeks since WoTC made the 4E announcement. Why can't we have patience and give everyone a little time to adjust to it before overwhelming these boards with repetitive questions no one can honestly answer at this point anyway?

My point is that we should be able to post our threads here if we don't see a proper spot in the 4e forum.

They can't possible account for everything, and we should be allowed to make our own somewhere instead of no where.

Should be? Maybe, maybe not.

My point is: Things are the way they are and we're just going to have to deal with them for now.

Also, GamerZer0 (who I had the pleasure of talking to at PAX this year) has been very good about creating new sections in the 4E forums if the topic doesn't seem to be covered in one of the other threads. Feel free to PM him and ask him to create a new section if you think its neccessary.

I think that's one of the reasons they are keeping everything penned up right now. If everyone were allowed to create any 4E thread anywhere they wanted, the boards would swell and burst like a virulent cell.

I, for one, don't begrudge them a little organization.

There was a thread that was made months ago predicting 4e, which turned out to be right. Some one made a comment on that after 4e was officially announced and next thing you knew the thread was locked.

Because they want all 4E conversations to take place in the 4E forum.

Since the thread was a 4E thread, it didn't belong outside anymore but since it had no relevance inside the 4E forum* they decided not to move it and just lock the thread.

Also, as you can see here (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=912433), they are beginning the discussions on what structure the "open" 4E forum will have.

I reiterate: Its only been two weeks. Even on the intertubes things can happen instantly. Give WoTC (and the rest of the forums) some time to adjust. Please be patient.

*I can only assume, seeing as how I haven't read the thread in question. From your description, it seems like it was along the lines of "(long time ago) I think 4E is coming!" "(last week) You were tight!" "(WizO) Locked". Not exactly a rousing round-table discussion worthy of being preserved for the ages.

I agree in that (as is the norm for many of these boards) users will post redundant threads without first checking to see if one exists. 4E is a pretty hot topic, so it would fill up pretty quickly.

I agree on the principle that it would be nice if we could post our own threads, but I think practicality dictates otherwise in this case.

Besides, as Loki mentioned, most of the questions that will be asked can't really be answered at this point anyway.

Also, according to a sticky thread on the 4e forum, they'll be releasing new forums sometime in the near future; these will somewhat mirror the existing layout, and you'll be able to start your own threads on those.

08-27-07, 04:56 PM Right now, we're trying to accomplish at least a couple of things with the 4E boards and the discussions that have been created there:

1) Keep the 4E talk from overwhelming the rest of the D&D boards. This is because while 4E will impact a lot of these other forums eventually, there are many in them who do not wish to deal with 4E stuff, and rightfully so, as there's still a lot that's unknown right now.

2) Gather feedback on the topics that were started. Right now the threads that exist are what the Developers want to see discussed and what feedback they're looking for. Once there's more known about this set and more to actually discuss about it, I expect that the 4E forums will be unlocked and the floodgates unleashed.

Until then, please keep the discussion in the 4E forums and on the topics that are created for the feedback requested.
