| Rustmonster09-06-07, 09:08 AM | What about tiles, miniatures, and rules? Tiles: Yes. Miniatures: Yes. Rules: No. It's a new rules set. That's the point. |
| SpongeBob09-06-07, 09:15 AM | can i use 3.5 MM in 4th? |
| Nadaka09-06-07, 09:20 AM | can i use 3.5 MM in 4th? Thats a good question. The answer is maybe, we don't know yet. Though it is likely that you could use the flavorful info in the 3.5 monster manual in conjunction with the free D&D 4 SRD (assuming 4.0 goes OGL) for the stats of the monsters. |
| Gryllmyre09-06-07, 09:32 AM | It's still a d20 system (looks like it, anyways), but it's being streamlined and is using different power balancing and wider viability of specific creatures at given levels, among many other refinements. It's not likely that 3.5 material will work well with it unless the information is finessed a bit (more likely a lot). |

I think if you have a good understanding of the 3.5 system (and what it's strengths and weaknesses are) coupled with a similar understanding of the 4E system (once it comes out, of course) and a lot of spare time, you can probably convert almost all of your 3.5 material to 4E. Just remember that last part: a lot of spare time... I imagine a lot of the mechanics will mask over pretty transparently. Others will probably be totally obsolete, and you'll have to find their 4E equivalent. |
