So how would one go about statting out Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget? I ask because I'd like to throw him into the game that I'm running as the main evil guy. Any help you give will be muchly appriciated.

Dr Claw, never really did anything except assign his agents and attempt to get help from his other evil contacts. Makes it hard to give him a character class.

However, he has a familiar, so probably a wizard or sorcerer.

He would definitely have to have the Leadership Feat and a very large amount of assets.;)

He did actually presumably build some of the machines we saw him or his underlings use, most distinctively his car (which was similar to, but technologically superior to, Gadget's own car; it could transform just like the van but it had more forms and the other shapes had to rely on aerodynamics to work) -- and if we're assigning him abilities, you could do worse than assume he built them himself. He is decidedly educated as well (you don't get to call yourself "Dr." without some serious education, and somehow I doubt he's a medical doctor), so assuming he has the resources (and he did)...

I'd personally use an artificer as a result. No one says the cat's a familiar. It's just The Mandatory Evil Guy's Expensive Pet (a la Ernst Stavro Blofeld). If you insist on making it a familiar, I'm reasonably certain an artificer can qualify for Obtain Familiar or assemble a suitable homunculus.

Feats would include Leadership and possibly the improved item-creation feats from Eberron that make them cheaper. More than that, there's not much else to give him, besides a vast information network (his followers) and a rotating Significant (Named) Underling Of The Week (cohorts).

When I was young, I didn't understand that the hand that Gadget handcuffed in the opening credits wasn't actually Dr. Claw. As a result, for a long time, I thought that Dr. Claw was just a hand attached to a chair by a spring. It wasn't until later that I understood that the hand was just a decoy, and that the whole point of that scene was so that the bomb in the chair could blow up Inspector Gadget. That was a special day for me, I must say. Ah, good times. I guess that doesn't really answer your question, though, does it?

Dr.Claw? I think Dr.Claw would be a 15 level Rogue. If I was going to add any 80's Icon bad guy into a campaing it would be MEGATRON! (both Dr. Claw and Megatron were voiced by Frank Walker.)

I can see that. He's certainly made plenty of "magical items" over the years, such as that cloak of invisibility out of the diamonds. Gold of Stinking Cloud. The teleporting satellite system he set up with his Japanese counterpart.

No one says the cat's a familiar.

True, but it was the one possible "class feature" I could see so I wanted to go with it.

Thinking about it a bit more though, I think he's an Effigy Master as well (anyone else remember that cool black panther robot? and I seem to vaguely recall some other robotic monsters that he made.)

It's been far too long since I've watched Inspector Gadget. I loved that show.

(I haven't seen it in years and I can still remember not only the theme song, but each of the character's individual themes. That show had good music.)

And here I thought that this thread was going to be another one about Venger.

Go Peter Cullen!
