?????Dragon Magazine Support?????? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-06-04, 10:51 PM I have been looking all over the internet for any type of support for dragon magazine and I am ready to pull my hair out! I have been a subscriber to Dragon and Dungeon for several years and am tired of not having a forum to discuss articles and missprints. I'm not saying that WOTC or Piazo needs to spend a great deal of money supporting thier magazines, but they provide ZERO, Zilch, nada. Could the moderators at least put up a message section on thier forums just for Dungeon and Dragon Magazines? Would it be so hard to do?

05-07-04, 02:38 AM There WERE magazine forums here in WotC messageboards.

It was assumed that Paizo will take over all aspects relating to the two magazines, including providing messageboards on their web sites. In fact, some of us have pleaded with Paizo to hurry and get a board running.

In the meantime, the only place to discuss the two magazines is on EN World Messageboards (http://www.enworld.org/forums/index.php).

They're not WotC's magazines any longer. They have nothing to do with the publishing process. As REG mentioned, your best bet is over on ENWorld.

For what it's worth, Paizo specifically asked not to allow discussion of their publications specifically on the WotC boards. You can discuss topics you find in there, obviously, but they should go on the appropriate board - for instance feats from a Dragon mag should be discussed on the Skills & Feats board, a Dungeon mag magical item from an adventure should be discussed on the Spells and Magic Items board and so on. Of course, since you aren't allowed to post copyrighted info here, that's not exactly easy.

05-07-04, 11:37 AM It was my understanding that Dragon magazine is official D&D content. If this is the case why are there copyright issues with posting on these forums. That just sounds stupid. Anyway Piazo sort of sucks, have any of you been to thier web site? Have any of you seen how they have killed Dragon magazine? If they put up some forums this decade that would be cool. I coud set up forums at Piazo's site in like two days, but hey they are the pros.

1. Dragon is official, and its content is owned by Wizards of the Coast.
2. Dragon did not request that the magazine categories on the Wizard message boards be taken down.
3. We are in the process of revamping our website and adding message boards. We want to make sure the new website serves our customers and our needs as a company. It's a slow process because our web team has a lot on its plate.
4. If you have customer service concerns, the best way to voice them is by sending an email to customer.service@paizo.com
5. If you have comments or concerns about the content of the magazines, the best way to voice that is by sending an email to scalemail@paizo.com

We'd love to hear your comments, wether positive or negative, so please email us and let us know what you think of the magazine.

So? It's not like WotC is going to sue Paizo for misrepresenting their magazine as "official D&D magazine" when they gave them permission.

Even when it was part of the defunct WotC's Periodical Department, they have a long history of hits and misses with consumers' wide variety of tastes and preferences.

Honestly, I don't recall us saying much more than, "The boards are down." I'm having a hard time remembering the real reason, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of dissatisfaction with the WotC boards. As Matt has mentioned, they're in the process of putting up their own message boards, which jives with what I recall.

But judging by the general tone of comments in this thread about Paizo, I'm not sure I would be in any hurry to get them up if I were Paizo. Inviting a bunch of fair-weather fans into my living room so they can whine and moan about me at my expense does not sound like a good idea.

Dragon articles/content can be discussed (in the corresponding forums (New feats in Dragon can be discussed on the feats board, for example.).

Customer service issues have to be directed to the above addresses. We don't handle subscription issues, or submission querries and so on. Customer related questions/comments go to Paizo.

With all due respect, I'm glad Paizo is not you. :D

But even with the flood of complaints -- i.e., moans & groans -- there are readers who do praise certain articles and in need of answers to their questions. If WotC's messageboard can endure it, I don't see why Paizo's can't. It goes with the territory.
