| tehlwf10-13-04, 07:11 PM | Hi there, I have a bunch of random questions, Since i've only played with one group, theres a few misconceptions between players and I'm still learning many aspects of the game. 1.) when hiding in combat, do you still need some kind of concealment / cover? or is the -20 supposed to reflect the definate lack of it? 2.) How exactly do you go about making a magic item / potion? 3.) does the spellcasters pouch carry all of the material components for spells (other than large items that wouldnt fit) and how do i go about powdering gold, and diamonds, and the other such fancy components? 4.) what kind of stats do animals summoned by spells, and familiars have? i cant seem to find details, like how to work out their touch attacks and whatnot 5.) how does poisoning a weapon work, againt cant seem to find specifics in the phb, maybe im looking in the wrong place.. :) Thanks for any help. |
| Dark1ord10-13-04, 07:21 PM | 1: common sense dictates you can't hide with something to hide behind/in (unless you have some kind of special class ability). 2: there's a chapter in DMG on magic items. 3: read the chapter in PH on magic. 4: depending on what you summoned, look up their entries in MM. 5: DMp296. reading is good for you! :P |
| MetalGemini10-13-04, 07:26 PM | 1) Generally, yes. Unless you have the "Hide in Plain Sight" class feature, you need to have something to hide "in." This can be bushes, heavy shadows, a tree, etc. Most of the time, the DM can tell if there is enough to hide in or not. 2) Its all described in the DMG. Here is the SRD link: Creating Magic Items (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/magicItemsCreation.html) 3) I assume it has the normal, mundane spell components. Stuff like a bit of bat fur for Arcane Eye or a grasshopper's hind leg for Jump are small enough and don't have enough value, that it is assumed to be included. Material components that are priced in the spell description, like 250 gp worth of diamond dust for Stoneskin, are not and must be purchased seperately. 4) Use the basic stats given in the MM. 5) DMG edit: Dark1ord beat me. :( oh well. |
