| coastiemike09-29-05, 05:11 PM | I'd like to incorporate some kind of mystery involving a circus in my campaign. Anyone know of a published or fan created adventure that has some info along these lines? |
| Seeker9509-29-05, 05:35 PM | I usually go fishing at RPG Archive (http://www.rpgarchive.com) for ideas. There I found a few circus-based ideas, even if they are for other game systems: Flint, Lock & Two Smoking Barrels (http://www.rpgarchive.com/adv1.php?advid=536) Steel Knight (http://www.rpgarchive.com/adv1.php?advid=268) Then there is the wonderful search feature of Google.com: GURPS Carnies (http://www.abgames.com/kilarn/adventures/carnies/carnies.html) Savage Worlds: Laughter of Death (http://www.abgames.com/kilarn/adventures/carnies/carnies.html) (This one is a PDF) |
| spoogemonkey09-30-05, 05:12 PM | yes, there is an old Dungeon Magazine with an evil circus adventure. I adapted it into my own campaign and added a few special things: 1) evil clowns that pile out of a wagon driven by a midget.... that had huge mallets, poison-squirting flowers in their lapels, and big floppy feet. When most of them got killed by the party - the others attempted to get away on tiny little tricycles. 2) trapeize artists that swooped down with knives and did swing-by slashings. 3) rampaging animals 4) bearded lady and strongman attacks 5) Ringmaster that attempts to flee by shooting himself out of a cannon...through the Big Top. Sound like what you are looking for? |

| theimposter18710-01-05, 12:49 PM | I have heard rumor of an old 2nd edition module called Carnival of Fear. I know that it was one of the Ravenloft novels from back then, but I was told that either the adventure was based on the book, or the book was based on the adventure, I cant remember which. You might be able to find something on it. |

Anyone know of a published or fan created adventure that has some info along these lines? You're in luck! If Dragon Magazine accepts my query about an article on some monsters of a Dark Carnival setting, you'll merely have to find this article when it's published. |
| Prof. Pacali10-02-05, 05:16 PM | You must immediately track down a copy of the 2E Ravenloft accessory Carnival. While it is ideally suited to a Ravenloft campaign, it can be easily adapted to any setting. Essentially the PCs come upon a mysterious carnival populated by circus freaks. And if the PCs stick around too long, they turn into circus freaks themselves. Beware the Pickled Punks! |

I didn't know there was a 2E version of that idea! |

| Draco Strang10-03-05, 01:36 PM | The core module Speaker in Dreams has a circus-y feel to it. It's centered around a town's annual festival, and there's lots of corruption and treachery afoot. |
| Galstaf, Sorcerer of Lite10-03-05, 06:15 PM | Dungeon published an adventure a little while ago called "Devil Box" that had sort of a circus-y flavor to it. Technically more "sideshow" than "circus," but it might be worth checking out -- you can still order the back issue from Paizo's website (http://www.paizo.com). Here's a link.
