| AvisKarlux03-11-07, 02:44 PM | How about The Complete Rebalancing Tweak. This book would tackle the various Classes and Feats (and maybe even magic items, but hopefully the Magic Item Compendium will do that justice) out there to make them more balanced. Based on the min/maxing posted in the forums, this book could revise the classes and feats to keep them on par with the power that a character should be at at a given level. But I do wonder about the popularity of this kind of book. I just know that the people I play with like "official" changes and aren't really into doing their own tweaking, so this would allow for a lot less headache. And it wouldn't call for a new edition, therefore making your current books obsolete. Also, I think they should come out with a Monster Manual: Monster Options. Giving monsters their own set of feats and variations. This book would be for DMs to help make current monsters more surprising and interesting. I feel if anything is true, we have too many monsters out there and not enough about them. Libris Mortis, the Fiendish Codexes, and Lords of Madness were all great starts, but a more comprehensive compendium would be great. Also, a Complete Optional Rules would be nice. This could fill in the gaps where the current rules don't go into detail. This could deal with what happens if a patrol walks into the square of your invisible character and things of that nature. Just some official rulings would help at my gaming table and mabye at yours too. Just some thoughts. Comments are warmly welcomed. |
| Luis_Carlos03-11-07, 03:39 PM | Why not something like a new Savage Species? With a lot of monster class (and cool background), and lots and lots of optional class (like complete mage or Unearthed Arcana). I would like the genies (jann, djinn, madrid/water, dao/earth, efreeti) monster class, and all the coolest dragons (not only cromatic and metal, too gem, oriental/lung....). and for the most popular templates (half-dragon, half-celestial.... or half-element from the Manual of the Planes or Planar handbook). I would like a race ¨zero¨, and a ¨zero class¨, something like a -1 level to be adde, balacing it, when a PC is created (a template or a race with +1 level adjustment). |

You can still run dos if you want. It isn't supported any more, but if you like it you can use it. Same with d&d. Some people still play older editions. Your books don't suddenly become useless. Unsupported yes, but not obsolete. Now for a response to your post. I like those ideas. I think that complete rebalancing would be impossible, though. Maybe a complete retooling of some of the weaker material, but you cannot get actual balance, you can only strive for it. For the monster options, I like the idea but I'm unsure of what would actually be able to fill a whole book. Pretty much anything you give to the monsters would almost be as useful to players. It would only work if they did very monster specific content, which is what the specific monster books are doing. And the last one sounds sort of like another unearthed arcana, which would be most welcome. Just instead of variant rules, you have completely new rules. I like the ideas behind all these books, but they would have to be implemented properly. |

It would be nice to see some rewrites of some of the worse classes to make them more viable but I doubt we'll see it. Complete optional rules sounds like Unearthed Arcana, but that might not be what you mean. |
| shah_003-12-07, 11:19 PM | I'd love to see a Savage Species II. There are sooooo many great monsters (and I'm thinking specifically outsiders/humanoids) that would be great. Also, the first one seems unbalanced, so it could be a 3.5 update on what needs to be changed. I think a weekly online monster progression series would be cool as well. |

I just hope it's a good book. |

| Seeker9503-13-07, 08:35 AM | This book would tackle the various Classes and Feats out there to make them more balanced.Although meant as a semi-humorous thread, the "hint of seriousness" in the post leads me to reply with a serious comment. Balance and its absence is largely subjective. "Everyone" claims the cleric is the most powerful class out there, yet the CO Boards still tout just about everything *but* cleric builds. "Everyone" claims the druid is the most powerful class out there, but I see far more powergamers taking gish builds than druid builds. "Everyone" says the sorcerer is too weak, but I know plenty of folks who much prefer a sorcerer over a wizard, if for the simple reason of easier bookkeeping. Balancing the classes is as subjective as the opinions of their brokenness. |
| Giant_Moth03-13-07, 11:42 AM | How about a new Epic level handbook? The old one is pretty bad. |
| Madacoda03-13-07, 11:46 AM | The spell compendium is already for sale, the magic compendium is being released the month and later this year there will be a rules compendium. That should make a nice set of books next to the core books. That sounds like what you are looking for. Only thing missing would be about the monster options. |
| Baloth King03-13-07, 03:26 PM | Complete Artificier, or Book of Construct-Thingies. Or maybe a book dealing with aquatic campaigns? |
