| Bartmanhomer11-30-05, 07:50 PM | I just thought of something! What if a hero who wants to kill a villain for destroying his hometown and he found the villain! The hero slain the villain and so many cheer the hero but he was very depressed and didn't gave any graduitied to the people. |
| Silverthumb12811-30-05, 07:53 PM | I don't think I understand what you mean, why is he depressed? He found the villain. That's good, a fruition of his heroic quest. Do you mean he's unsatisfied with his victory? Then he should go out and try to fill that void by preventing more town destructions. |
| Bartmanhomer11-30-05, 07:55 PM | Because the villain kill his family! |
| Silverthumb12811-30-05, 08:09 PM | Because the villain kill his family! That's why he went adventuring. If he's depressed afterwards, well, good on him for having emotions, but he's gonna be boring as hell to play, if he mopes all the time, wouldn't you say? PC1: Let's go get some treasure! You: No... That's ok... I just wanna sit in my room... See? |
| Bartmanhomer11-30-05, 08:36 PM | What if he suffer from a depression disorder? |
| Ibbins11-30-05, 09:02 PM | Then he's probably depressed. :rimshot: |

Neither really make sense in this context. The people might feel gratitude towards the hero, but I can't see why the hero would feel gratitude towards the people he saved regardless of whether or not he was depressed. Though I suppose if he were depressed, he might not tip at restaurants... Lastly, what do you mean by "what if?" If he feels depressed then he feels depressed. He mopes around a bit and goes on to the next adventure. Or is this (http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=125) what you're looking for? |
| Nialo11-30-05, 11:33 PM | I think what he means is. The Hero finally managed to slay the villain, people cheer and everyone's happy, but the Hero doesn't feel better, like he thought he would, after his act of vengeance and becomes depressed. The idea of revenge being bittersweet and never truly satisfying has been around for a while, to be honest. And God knows how many 'depressed' heroes there are, with the self-absorbtion-blog-depression fads. If you think you can make it work and make it interesting, go for it. But honestly the idea's not very new, nor interesting (in my opinion). |
