This isn't the exact one I used, but the same basic idea. Quest Name: Basement Warriors, the tale of the generic level 1 quest (rename as you wish) Description: All the players are gathered at the bar portion of an inn. The Innkeeper is explaining to the players that goblins have been stealing from his wine cellar. He wants them to try to catch the goblins in the act. He is wary to do in himself because he thinks a wizard is involved, as the goblins leave no trail. He will give the players a reward if they do this for him. I sugest this reward be a bottle of healing wine for each of the players (funtions as a potion of cure light wounds). When the players wate in the basement they will hear something coming from one of the wine barrels (listen check DC 15). The goblins have turned one of them into a secret door (Search DC 25 if the players search beforehand) and are comeing through that opening. Noticing the opening before the goblins attack will give each player 50 XP) When the goblins come there will be 4* of them (as per the monster manual) who will fight the players). Defeating them will yield 100 XP per goblin to be split amongst the group. In addition to thier equipment (which is pretty good at first level, armor and bows are expesive) the goblins each have 1d6 GP on them. *Thats assuming you have 4 players. If you have 3 players, make 3 goblins, 6 players, 6 goblins, ect... The Innkeeper thanks the players and gives them thier reward. However, the secret door greatly conserns him, and he'd like to know whats back there. Time to send the players it... Quest ended. Now just attach whatever series of caves/tunnels you want behind the barrels. All out goblin fortress with warg kennels, goblin sargents with afew levels of fighter and enemy spellcasters is probably too mcuh for 1st level characters. I'd advise it be a section of "wilderness" caves, with afew scragly bands of goblins, maby some wolves (NOT wargs, look in the back of the monster manual with the animals) and some giant bugs. Role treasure for everything, and keep the chalenge ratings in mind, most should be CR 1, though afew 2s could be good. Don't be afraid to have a chalenge rating 3 boss at some point, especially if it is a large adventuring party. I recomend an ogre, a large group of goblins, a wizard of some sort, or single warg. If you want a plot hook to lead into a larger story arc (evil uber-undead creature, goblin/hobgoblin empire, whatever) throw it into this cave system. Most importantly, be creative and have fun. |
| Silverthumb12801-09-07, 08:51 PM | Just have a look-see through this: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35 To make this, you'll need to look through the Monsters(Vermin) file and Treasure. I can't seem to see well enough today to say whether there's a file there that lists experience points, but I'm sure its there, too. EDIT: Or just do the one Drucilla set up. :D |

Experience points tables aren't part of the OGL, so it's not on there... |
