| Great Demon01-09-04, 10:06 PM | Ok I'm new to Dungeons and Dragons and I had a few Questions 1. Where can you buy counters? 2. Do you get counters when you buy a module? 3. When starting as a 1st Lvl Cleric do you get all the 1st Lvl spells or only the ones from the alaigment you chose? 4. Is it possible for a DM to be a PC as well? 5. Who controls the NPC's? 6. Should I make my own maps or is it better to buy a Module for a beginner? Thanks for the help!!!! :b: :b: |

Since the DM knows everything, it can be bad in both cases where the players always look to the DM's PC, or the DM's PC steals the glory... 5. The DM does. 6. I don't do modules, so I can't say anything good or bad about them. I homebrew (make up) everything, and modules are sometimes too easy or too powerful. A prime example is Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. |

| Great Demon01-09-04, 11:06 PM | Just one more question about Counters I saw this Dungeons And Dragons An Advanture Game product at a store and it said it holds the basic stuff to start playing, so is the Dungeons And Dragons An Advanture Game the same as the DM starter set. |
| Zherog01-09-04, 11:35 PM | Every published counter I have seen has been released by a third party company. Save some money at first and use other things. Chess pieces work well, as do pennies, nickels, etc. Originally posted by Great Demon 3. When starting as a 1st Lvl Cleric do you get all the 1st Lvl spells or only the ones from the alaigment you chose? A little of both. A cleric may select their spells from any first level spell except those of an opposite alignment. For example, a Lawful Good cleric cannot prepare any spells (of any level) with the chaotic or evil tags. 4. Is it possible for a DM to be a PC as well? Yes, but it's difficult. 5. Who controls the NPC's? The DM does most of the time. I have heard of groups that allow the PC to control his cohort from the leadership feat - though the DM has final say on any actions. Please Help Dude - you made the second post exactly two minutes after the first. You need to give things a bit of time here. This is a message board, not a chat room. Sometimes you may go as long as a day before you get an answer. |

Thing is, there's always someone willing to answer you're questions, but you have to have patience.. It's a virtue that I cannot afford not to have sometimes.. |
