| The Simple Seeker II12-02-05, 02:57 AM | As this news (http://www.gamingreport.com/article.php?sid=19503) was quiet surprising to see. None the less, as a sign of respect. I will say this...Mr.Ryan, good luck in your future ventures. And thank you for the time spent at the WOtc Officies and here, on the forums. Take Care Sir. This note of goodbye extends to the other former employees as well, that are not longer with Wotc. |
| SnowbearK12-02-05, 05:11 AM | :uh-huh: :nonono: And there is no emoticon for the rest of it, except perhaps the immortal words of Stan & Kyle..."oh my god, you canned Charles! You bastardswords!" Or something like that... |
| Deacon Liadon12-02-05, 06:57 AM | Fare thee well Charles. for all the work you've done. |
| Taurren12-02-05, 08:05 AM | I really respected Charles and the work that he did for D&D. Good luck in the future, you will be missed. |
| Solaris12-02-05, 08:13 AM | There's so much spin in that article it's a wonder people don't get dizzy just looking at it. What nonsense. |
| JongWK12-02-05, 08:52 AM | ... are Michelle Lyons and John Rateliffe (spelling?). Shaem that two good writers get this news before X-Mas. |
| Seeker9512-02-05, 10:03 AM | :tiphat: to Charles. |
| diaglo12-02-05, 10:41 AM | cya round mr ryan. don't be a stranger. |
| JLP12-02-05, 01:22 PM | And just in time for the holidays! I hope they got a beaucoup severance package. Thanks for all the hard work! |
| Surgo12-02-05, 01:29 PM | I almost vomited on my screen after taking that much disgusting slantedness and spin into my brain. |
| Zherog12-02-05, 01:36 PM | To those who received this bad news (Charles and everybody else involved), good luck! As someone who was on the receiving end of this sort of thing not too long ago (spring of '03), I can tell you things'll work out with a little perserverance on your end. I do agree with the others that doing this sort of thing just before the holidays is pretty sucky. Such is modern business, however. Unfortunately. |
| green_yawgmoth12-02-05, 02:07 PM | So are we ever going to find out what "Woof!" means? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
| Mercurius12-02-05, 02:15 PM | Harsh. Very harsh. Good luck to everyone who was laid off, and thanks for all the hard work and good times. |
| greyhaze12-02-05, 03:26 PM | I am honestly surprised that they needed a salary dump. WotC must be doing great. It's unfathomable that they are not. Hasbro greed? I dunno. I feel bad for these guys. |
| Rocketboy1312-02-05, 03:44 PM | To bad to hear about job losses before the holiday season. I am however curious what precisely is that positions job description? |
| Joni-san12-02-05, 04:01 PM | I wish the best of luck to the affected and hope they will find something to do. *Sings "Thanks for the memories"* |
| weasel fierce12-02-05, 08:25 PM | Laying people off right before the holidays is a crime against common decency. Go Hasbro  I hope the people find something good to do, soon. |
| The Simple Seeker II12-02-05, 09:45 PM | Not to add to the jokes, but it is kinda sad, that after talking with Charles via the forums briefly, and then finally meeting him this year, at Gen Con. Was a blessing in disguise. I wish I could have extended that small meeting, into a more fruitful business relationship and see what would have come of it. But alas no...but hopefully, who ever is given the position *if it still exist* I will have reforge those small ties once more. And believe or not, at EnWorld...the tide of respect is quiet, high. Peace. |
| Lord Doombringer12-02-05, 09:56 PM | Good luck all those who were on the list... :weep: |
| Slyde Shadowdart12-02-05, 10:12 PM | There's so much spin in that article it's a wonder people don't get dizzy just looking at it. What nonsense. Indeed. It also begs the question of what's going to happen to D&D, if anything. |
| Seeker9512-02-05, 10:26 PM | Charles has responded at ENWorld. Read it, please. Then rethink some of the comments made here. Good luck Charles. My son is due on the 21st of January. I would welcome a layoff with a severance package, but also know how stressful that would be. Enjoy the birth of your child, be there for your wife, and remember to let yourself relax as you find your next step. |
| Slyde Shadowdart12-02-05, 11:06 PM | Read and taken into account. I wish Charles the best. His post, however, is highly indicative that he was told what he was allowed to say (most likely in his NDA) after he left the company. It appears he isn't allowed to say much. The parts directly having to do with the company and the product line are just as much whitewash as the article that was originally linked. (Note that I'm not saying he's at fault in any way. A contract is a contract.) My question stands. |
| MerricB12-03-05, 01:19 AM | Fare well, Charles. You've been very generous of your time to our questions, and I've greatly enjoyed D&D under your watch. Best wishes! |
| Zherog12-03-05, 10:43 AM | Charles has responded at ENWorld. Read it, please. Then rethink some of the comments made here. You could provide a link, ya know. ;) |
| Seeker9512-03-05, 03:28 PM | You could provide a link, ya know. ;)I'm not sure of the CoC allowability of posting a link to another message board. But here it is anyway: Mr. Ryan Informs (http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=2759088&postcount=43) |
| SnowbearK12-06-05, 04:04 AM | I stand by my earlier comment. |
| Attila12-06-05, 01:31 PM | Good luck Charles! Congratulations on the birth of your child. I appreciate the time you spent answering questions and interacting with the fans on this website. |
