Check out this map I made. But there is one [I]little[I] problem... I haven't put any monsters on it! So this might spark some imagination in some DM's. Everyone is free to use it if they want to, but I would like if someone made my map with monsters on it and put the link in this thread. Well, here she is!

What program did you use to make that? I am fond of CC2 for dungeon work myself.

This is going to sound a little harsh, but exactly why did you bother to do this?

I mean, I guess it's an OK map...though it's basically just a bunch of rather plain rooms and doors with some chests.

But did you really post this because you were capable of making a map and incapable of stocking it with monsters?

Or did you simply feel that the map was such a great job that you had to share it with the world? That new DMs would be crying out for a random map of a few rooms?

I am just very puzzled by your post.

Well, since I don't have the Monster Manual, and I am just a beginner, I did't know what to put in my rooms, or any monsters. The thing I used to create it is stone sword's Dungeon Maker. Go to stonesword.com and look for their dungeon maker. It is sort of bland and doesnt have much stuff to make stuff with(plus it is the only dungeon maker thing i know about, except for wizard's tile mapper, which sucks by the way)

That explains it well. Thanks. So what you'd really like are some ideas as to monsters to put into your map?

I am sure lots of folks would have good ideas, but you'd need to tell us what level of PCs the dungeon would be for.

Look up at the brown bar across the page near the top of the page. One choice is MY ACCOUNT. Click on it and then on your User Control Panel.

Within will be an option to assign a picture.

Umm... As a DM, you generally don't play just your character, thats called a DMPC> You play everyone else. Everyone. Do you own a Dungeon Masters Guide? I recomend reading it.

I know, but I'm talking about the monsters in the map. Not me or the level of other players(even though this will be a novice map). Speaking of monsters on my map, I finally decided which ones to put on it. Here

P.S. No I don't have the DM book.

Well, it's pretty small for a dungeon. You could add traps and challenges and stuff so you don't have to pack it with monster after monster, especially if you're all lvl2.

Also, I think you haven't understood the concept of Dungeons and Dragons. You see, when people get together to play D&D, one of them is the DM - the Dungeon Master. He's like the storyteller and adjudicator of the rules. He doesn't have PC (player character). Instead, the DM breathes life into every NPC, monster, challenge that the players face and the world around them.
The PCs are the main characters in the story, facing challenges, making decisions, and weaving their own touch into the DM's world.

If you seriously want to play D&D, you and your friends should at least possess:
Player's Handbook 3.5
Dungeon Master's Guide 3.5
Monster Manual 3.5

Other publications might enhance the options of your group but, if you're just starting, set yourself on those three books and try it out.
If you don't feel like making a homebrew setting right away, there are published settings you might use. WotC currently sponsors Forgotten Realms and Eberron. Check out their forums and see which you like most.

I think it's great. Its an old school dungeon crawl, complete with the possibility of roleplaying encounters (the Azer), trapped chests, lots of combat, and a fire theme. Perfect.

It is completely plausible to run it for yourself. Just make sure you play the monsters as smart as they should be. While the elementals might just rush and maybe surround, the mephits will use range and flight. The dragon will pull out all the stops, and flee if severely hurt.

This looks like more of a challenge than a level 2 character can take on by himself. He would probably need help.

On the other hand, it's great for a small dungeon for a group of PCs.

Good job.

I just looked at the dungeon that you made, and it looks alright. It also reminds me of the dungeons that I made when I started playing when I was young and new to the game(early 80's). When I first started to make these maps, they were just that, maps. There was no real thought put into where this would go, if that will work there, just random maps. I would stock it with every assortment of monster that I could think of, and bam! I had a dungeon. The more that I read the rules, though, I came to realize that there was planning to be done. You seemed to take this step with the fire theme, but there is also more that you could do. It is a very good start to a world of possibilities. Welcome to the world of dungeon design.
