Because the thread on Piracy was closed, I am posting this here.

I have been known all over the world for giving away my stuff to newly interested players. I have given away over $1300 worth of Magic cards. I have given away $400 worth of Mechwarrior figures. I have given away about $150 in Hero Clix. And I have bought D&D core rule books and given them to the local youth in my community.

WHY?

Because, if I give them to someone they will enjoy the game -- without stealing. That may sound harsh, but I have way too many stories of cards, minis, figures, books that were stolen at gaming places.

Also, It really feels good to give an old module to someone in Europe where it would be prohibitive to buy. I can't even put a price on the old mods that I have given away. I don't care.

I think that those people who can afford some generosity -- should give where it counts.

Support your local game store, and give to the youth of your community. Even if it means DMing a group of ORCs. Your time may keep them from doing drugs or petty theft.

As the creator of that old thread, he has a point. Even when i took my hiatus from 3.0 D&D, i gave out my Core Rulebooks and 3.0 Psionics book

D&D Basic Sets make excellent choices as donations to the annual Toys for Tots campaign at Christmas time.

Good idea.

OP...It's good to hear that. How often do the old 3.0 books gather dust on the shelves? Replaced by their 3.5 counterparts and wasting away. Give them a good home.

I wonder what Wizards did with the unsold 3.0 books when 3.5 came out...
