Hi! I hope this is placed correctly it's my first post here.

Anyway this is my first time playing DnD and through my own rather short-sighted mistake, one of our party, a thief whom im not fond of, was carried off by Pixies.

Trouble is, I've already learned that fighting pixies is ineffective, you end up dancing, and since they don't care for material possessions and they love mischief, they don't seem the type you can deal with.

Is there a weakness Pixies have that I'm missing?

Any suggestions would be helpful and please forgive me if it's incredibly obvious, i only just started

Fighting pixies is not ineffective if you can actually find them. I would recommend that you visit a sage in the largest nearby city and learn what you can about pixies (i.e. what is in the monster manual) and then craft your plan as such.

You could also try simple negotiations. Bargain to get him back. Don't make an offer. See what they request.
