Hey hey hey, veterans and asteemed collegues. A quick question regarding damage rolls coinsideing with the characters developement. I'm new and I noticed with some creatures when a higher CR had damage rolls of, "10d6" but yet, when starting a PC you only get the standard 1d6, now my question is if you level up does also the number of die needed to damage Like I'm a level 1 ninja just upgraded to leevl 2, so would his attack die go from, "1d6" to, "2d6"? this is my main concern :P Thank You!

I don't understand the question entirely, but from what I understand then I would say yes

EDIT: reread the question and if your reffering to unarmed damage then no if your refering to weapon damage then no if your reffering to HD then yes

Ummmm, I dotn know really how else to say it, they give you example PCs in supplements, and they are higher level, and for their weapons on damage rolls it says something like, "10d6" but when you start out you only get to give, "1d6" damage, now when my character levels up, does it go up with him? ex: level 1, "1d6" level 2, "2d6" level 3, "3d6" do you apply this, or just keep adding the base attack bonus as you keep going?

Ok I get ya now, you just add BAB ( base attack bonus ) to your attack rolls w/ your str mod and I dont think BAB affects your Damage ( ? )

What would affect damage rolls, like incresing it through progression of your PC?

Please take no offense in this reply, for none is intended. You are quite accurate in your assessment that these are "noob questions". That is not abad thing. New folks always have questions. But it is just as likely that any answer we provide is going to raise more questions.

I suggest you sit down with your dungeon master and play a few more sessions. Ask questions during (and after) your game. Get a feel for things a bit more before you seek answers on these Boards.

After a few sessions, you should have enough of a grasp of the game to allow our answers to make more sense to you, and also to let your questions be a little more specific.

STR, enhancement bonuses to your weapons, Sneak attack, Feats, spells. Basically a lot of things. You need to be more specific.

In short though, your damage does not increase just for leveling up. Something needs to change, a new feat, better stuff, your cleric/wizard buffs you or whatever.

I assume you are talking about the damage you do with things like abilities, sudden strike damage, sneak attack damage, ect.; to answer your question, no, these things do not go up in a die of damage unless on your class progression, or it specifically says in the text of, say, a spell, it goes up.

You mean "Hit Dice", right? Those are what determines your hit points (how much damage you can take before going down). Each time a character gains a level, he rolls his class's Hit Die (d10 for Fighters, d4 for Wizards, and so on), adds his Constitution modifier to it, and adds the result to his maximum hit points. The full numbers, like "10d6" are for generating a high-level character, instead of adding levels one at a time you just roll their hit points all at once.

Also, RTFSRD (http://d20srd.org).
