Her name is Leona the Tinker, a halfling wizard with a gift for transmutation. Passionate about her studies and oblivious to practically everything else, her lifelong passion is to become an Effigy Master, and always out to make new friends. Accent on the "make", of course. Here are her most interesting aspects. (Note, this is a homebrew campaign beginning at 5th level.) Tiny: At some point in time, Leona decided even her nimble halfling fingers were too big and clumsy for delicate work. To this end, she managed to hire a superior wizard to cast Permanency on her Reduce Person spell. Now the little lady is tiny, and loving it. Since her size has made handling material components tricky on occasion, she has spent some time learning how to Eschew Materials. Spark Guardian: The current focus of her passion is creating a construct bird - she has been spending most of her free time on this project for the better part of the last four years, but still a ways from completing it. She has invested the materials and effort to design a powerful bird, modeled after an eagle more than a songbird. (Game-Mechanics-wise: Building it to be 5 hitdice, and thus classified as a "small" creature.) As a side-note: she's building a compartment in its back that, in the eyes of a modern observer, would resemble the cockpit of a primitive airplane. (This construct will not be effectively completed until after she has attained level 7, assuming she survives that long.) Leona's Handy Hangar: I'm not sure how this will be manifested yet, but the idea is that she maintains her lab in an extra-dimensional space, such as a minor portable hole or a bag of holding. One concept I've been playing with is a magical rope that, when Rope Trick is cast on it, always sends the caster to the same extra-dimensional space, where she's set up her Hangar. Her tiny-sized lab would eat up two of the eight available creature slots in the space. I think this balances out since access to the Hangar is dependent on her using (wizard) spell slots to open it, unlike the bag or the portable hole. Anyway, that's the most interesting aspects about her. What's the verdict? Do you guys feel sorry for my DM yet? |

| Calemyr12-11-06, 11:02 AM | She actually didn't intend on adventuring. Her absolute focus and tendency not to realize that her creations were dangerous made it so that the local lord ordered her into the keeping of a member of the local guard (a fellow party member). Oddly, this guard keeps getting assigned tasks that take him farther and farther away from the lord's lands, and as such he takes her with him. It doesn't seem to matter much to her, though. A change of scenery, a chance to get a closer look at the mechanics of living creatures, and an ever increasing possibility of new inspirations. To be honest, she really has no understanding of the fact that she IS adventuring, and will be rather confused the first time anyone refers to her as such. Also, while the Tiny Hut is a superb spell and I am quite thankful you pointed it out, it probably would be difficult to use in this case since it isn't extra-dimensional in nature. The Rope Trick, on the other hand, is. This also serves to answer the immortal question: "Where IS your familiar, by the way?" |

| Findail12-11-06, 12:01 PM | If the DM allows it, she might work towards becoming an Anchorite (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Anchorite_%28DnD_Prestige_Class%29) after Effigy Master. Then she can stay home and play with her toys, and still assist her adventuring companion (and maybe loan him an effigy or two). |
