| On_the_wings_of_TPK06-12-07, 11:35 PM | A serious problem of epic proportions has recently been brought to my attention, and it must be addressed. I see this more on the what's a DM to do, and occasionally on the What's a player to do. But this is truly the great problem of our time, and it effects us all. I've noticed that a growing number of posters are mis prescribing the use of the Hammer gun. This is bad as mis prescriptions can lead to unforeseen complications. The least of which is the possibility that Steve's could be given the mistaken impression that they are the DM! Now wouldn't that be terrible indeed. Firstly the group still has an uncured Steve in it, and we all know the pains that can cause. But now the Steve has delusions of grandeur. And whats worse is that he'll begin to think that he should be able to use rule zero to change the game to the way he thinks it auto be run. This causes house rules like; Natural ones are failures on skill checks, and elves can not wield two handed weapons. Further he may instate the dreaded DMPC. Not the good one that adds to the story, no. The one that is 30 levels higher then everyone else in the party. The one that can cast every spell in all the game as a spell like ability at will, and more gold pieces than the U.S has national debt. The one that issues out popcorn for the rest of the group while they watch Steve slay the dragon, and egt the hot elf chick in bikini chain mail. So please for the love of all that is holy remember: This is for DMs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/ShadowDragon8685/crossbowhammergun.gif And this is for Steve: http://www.atlaschairsandtables.com/clip_image002_0001.jpg Thank you for your time. This has been a public service announcement brought to you by the FANT. |
| KillerVole06-12-07, 11:46 PM | It's interesting how board lingo grows so quickly, like Pun-Pun's divine rank. Hopefully, even the most Hammer Gun deserving DM would never allow a Steve to run a DMPC, as he's not really the DM. But you never know... By the way, for everyone unfamiliar with the dialect used here, the Hammer Gun is a mythical weapon designed to punish bad DMs. A Steve is a bad player, often a jerk. His problems can allegedly be solved by beating him with a folding chair. Pun-Pun is a character who becomes a greater deity at level 5. No one is quite sure what exactly a fant is... |
| Steely_Dan06-13-07, 06:02 AM | No one is quite sure what exactly a fant is... Isn't that a rant of flatulence? |
| DraconsNighthawk06-13-07, 09:49 AM | No, Fant was the word used by a player who wanted girls to beat him. His wording was "I have that normal fant all dnd players want" or close to it. |

| Grand Theft Otto06-13-07, 11:36 AM | Yes, that is where it came from but we still don't know what it means. I'd guess its short for a Fanta. Who wouldnt want a cloyingly sweet uncaffeinated soda? My personal favorite is the yellow one, who gets the award for least convinvcing she-male ever. |
| Steely_Dan06-13-07, 11:41 AM | My personal favorite is the yellow one, who gets the award for least convinvcing she-male ever. If there is one thing I can't stand in this world, it's substandard trannies. |
| Grand Theft Otto06-13-07, 12:47 PM | If there is one thing I can't stand in this world, it's substandard trannies. At least wax the 'stache and tuck. Sure, not everyone can achieve the high standards set by Ru Paul and Buffalo Bill, but show some pride! And people wonder why jobs are being outsourced to other countries... |
| RobbyPants06-13-07, 02:22 PM | No one is quite sure what exactly a fant is... About all I can do is say where I first saw it. Someone was using it as an accronym on that wonderful, 'I won D&D' thread that got locked. But I gathred from the context that it's origins were far older... Perhaps someone with the tongues spell would know what it means... :P |
| KillerVole06-13-07, 02:30 PM | About all I can do is say where I first saw it. Someone was using it as an accronym on that wonderful, 'I won D&D' thread that got locked. But I gathred from the context that it's origins were far older... The acronym was created as an attempt to decipher a post. The player was rambling about a "fant", a female DM, and instant messaging. No one on the thread could figure out what it meant. Theories ranged from a drunken poster, to insanity, to a very wrong idea about what exactly a dungeon master was. I think the thread got locked eventually... |

I think the thread got locked eventually... Oh yes... I'm getting my threads all mixed up! The first place I saw it was there. The OP said "fant" (most likely meaning fantasy, but who knows). In that thread, the acronym was created (and sigged by no less than two members). Within days, the "I Won D&D" thread was started, and at least one of those posters replied. Thanks for the correction. |

Pun-Pun gains unlimited Divine Rank at level 1. Hrm, the boards are going to need some more acronyms and lingo. |
| UltimateReality06-13-07, 11:33 PM | I gathred from the context that it's origins were far older...I have the link to both fant threads in my sig, in case anyone is really bored and has some time on their hands. :P |
| Steely_Dan06-14-07, 07:45 AM | Sure, not everyone can achieve the high standards set by Ru Paul and Buffalo Bill, Those two are still very substandard next to some of the ones I've seen/encountered in Asia and South America. |
| ElberethSilverleaf06-15-07, 12:48 AM | Those two are still very substandard next to some of the ones I've seen/encountered in Asia and South America. LOL, very true. The reason our trannies here in the US are sub-par to those in places like Thailand or S.America is because we require a lot of psycological counciling before someone can get the hormones. In Thailand teenage boys can get hormone therapy and there isn't much stigma attached to it. Hence all of the beautiful ladyboys in Thailand... |
| docballen06-15-07, 03:03 AM | The crazy thing is... I just left a group. Guess what the main DM's name was...? (So does he get the hammergun OR the folding chair?? Can I do both?) |
| KurenaiYami06-15-07, 04:24 AM | The crazy thing is... I just left a group. Guess what the main DM's name was...? (So does he get the hammergun OR the folding chair?? Can I do both?) No, he gets the hammergun if he was DM. Just because his name is Steve does not necessarily mean that he is a Steve, simply that his parents named him Steve. |
| Pippa06-15-07, 07:19 AM | Hmm, I just read through that OP of the first fant-thread, and I believe fant is indeed short for fantasy. My guess is that he gets, ah, aroused by the fantasy of losing a fight against female npc's, something he says only female DM's would let happen, hence the question if some female DM would please DM him online. Doesn't sound like the fant all D&D'ers want, though, so whatever that meant still stays a mystery. Unless that poster lives in fantland, speaking fants. |
| docballen06-16-07, 06:56 AM | No, he gets the hammergun if he was DM. Just because his name is Steve does not necessarily mean that he is a Steve, simply that his parents named him Steve. No, I think he was named appropriately. He was a right royal pain-in-the-arse both as DM and as a player. So does that mean when he's DM-ing we can use the hammergun, and when he's playing we can use the folding chair??? I'll even bring my own folding chair. |

Your Steve became confused, and thought he was the DM. This caused him to mutate into the DMeve. At this time there is no known cure for that affliction. Unfortunately conventional medicine just doesn't seem to effect the DMeve. Because of the Steve nature in the DM nothing seems to effect him other then a folding chair. However the becuase of the powers of being a DM grant him DR 40/hammergun. Which means that the folding chair has no effect, making him immune to both. But we here at TPK pharmaceuticals are striving towards a break through. |

I've found that Greek wrestling can overcome DMeves' resistances. Just grab them by the neck, run them into the ground and keep them there. |
| Toran_A_Sunder06-16-07, 07:18 PM | ........elves can wield two handed weapons? |
| On_the_wings_of_TPK06-17-07, 12:06 AM | I think Pun-Pun may need to be called in to take care of this one. Early tests proved positive with this. However we noticed that pun-pun has an acute weakness for DM fiat. That is to say that when the ethereal mountain of infinite damage + 10 no save was dropped on pun-pun he died. He also showed certain weaknesses to "rocks fall everyone dies", and "Serpent kingdoms is not aloud." He also has an unusual side effect of making Ebberron players twitch uncontrollable. Other side effects included: nausea, diarrhea, unset stomach, death, and male pattern baldness. I've found that Greek wrestling can overcome DMeves' resistances. Just grab them by the neck, run them into the ground and keep them there. We haven't tested Greek wrestling. We initially thought it would not work as Steve's have unusually thick hides, and high lung capacities. |
| Ebonarc06-17-07, 12:09 AM | Other side effects included: nausea, diarrhea, unset stomach, death, and male pattern baldness. What, no dry mouth and constipation? |
| NobodyRemembersThis06-17-07, 12:14 AM | What, no dry mouth and constipation? That only results from shapechangeing into a black pudding and making infinite perfect copies of your character (gear and all!). |
| IRememberCecil06-17-07, 09:32 AM | ........elves can wield two handed weapons? No. (http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-692629) |
| Pippa06-18-07, 11:18 AM | How about bows? You need two hands for those. |

I've been puzzling over the same thing, and I may have found a solution: The Hammer-Chair Cannon: a cannon that fires folding chairs made out of hammers. Illustration pending. |
| Sorn_Toril06-18-07, 11:41 AM | Umm. I haven't been here as long as you all have but in my humble opinion on the word "fant" that no one seems to know what it means. I think that it is short for fantasy. Like it was a fantasy of his, and he thought it would be a fantasy off all DnD players out there. But after reading the post and everything I came to the logical conclusion that the word was a foreshortened word for fantasy. |

| CryoSilver06-18-07, 11:57 AM | Could work...We were just about to start testing on a Broom stick up the ****** method of straightening the DMeve out. Try it. I'll design the cannon, and we can compare results. |
| NobodyRemembersThis06-18-07, 02:12 PM | I have found that a RAW fish to the face will stop the DMeve behavior. |
