Broderick 09-05-04, 06:49 AM	I imagine a cartoon (thinking more "anime-ish" to be exact) D&D world with big-eyed girls, cat girls, anthropomorphic animals, ultra-cinematic combat action, and a setting that's like the Renaissance, except with Victorian-like cities, airships, extensive use of gunpowder, and even toilets, faucets, and primitive use of electricity such as light bulbs, telephones, and record players. And in my world, with the notable exception of clerics, paladins, and monks, single-class characters are the exception rather than the rule, and it's not rare at all to see characters such as druid/barbarians and eldritch knights and arcane tricksters and arcane archers (whose "elven blood" racial requirement has been lifted in my world) in action, or even fighters who have a high mind ability score (Int, Wis, Cha) and/or have ranks in Use Magic Device. But then again I've played a lot of Japanese console RPG's, too, long before I started playing D&D, so maybe that probably influenced my ideas a little bit... Do you ever imagine D&D like this? What other unique D&D worlds come to mind?

Glak 09-05-04, 08:49 PM	ugg... I am starting to hate anime. Not because it is all bad (some is ok) but because so many people like it so much. My friend doesn't draw mouths on people anymore! That was the last straw for me. I want to see some more classical art for a change. However you do like anime so go to google and enter "besm rpg d20". It also has an SRD available, so you can google that too.
Broderick 09-05-04, 09:04 PM	Yeah I know about that product. It has some interesting ideas, but the funny part is that my world actually works better with D&D rules. My world may be slightly anime-ish but I don't think it's quite anime-like enough to be besm material. Female sorcerers and bards would make great magical girls...

Fixxxer 09-06-04, 04:48 AM	When I try to visualize D&D as though it were art, I generally tend towards the historical illustrations of Angus McBride.....but my thoughts generally tend towards the warrior end of the warrior/spellcaster spectrum.

The animated version of The Lord of the Rings had nothing to do with Rankin-Bass, it was a Ralph Bakshi affair, (anime/japanamation is an art form, not a style) Actually, anime is a style, the artform is animation. Note also the word anime has this meaning only outside of Japan. "Anime" in Japanese means anything that is animated, from claymation to Disney flicks.
