| Abaneth Goodsword11-13-03, 03:32 PM | I was wondering, does anyone use the 24 ability points system? I did with my first player but I used the dice rolling method for my second. How about yall? |
| Daloran11-13-03, 03:37 PM | My gaming group always rolls dice. Twice I've done things different, where I made a series of numbers and allowed the players to place them where they saw fit (I did this to remove the 30 to 50 stat rolls some of my players were doing, I got fed up and told them what numbers to use). I used 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 9. |
| Seeker9511-13-03, 04:26 PM | We play a slightly "powered" game compared to some (and a very weak game compared to others!), so we use: 10, 12, 14, 14, 16, 18 This is 84 points total (technically a "24-point" system :)) Place however you wish. Move your points around as desired. |

Better than rolling, as you can actually get stats to match the character, instead of the other way around. |
| thalious11-13-03, 09:47 PM | I let my players use 4d6 reroll ones and the option to reroll doubles. I am not against letting them pick stats....subject to approval. |
| aldymnor11-13-03, 10:19 PM | 4d6 minus the shortest roll each time. used to be 3d6. That's the way we've always done it. |
| Tenzhi11-13-03, 10:26 PM | I usually do point buy, but this next game I'm going to have them roll 2d6+6 and arrange to taste. |
| Super Draco Whitewind11-13-03, 10:27 PM | I give out 4d6 7 times. if the scores are just plain sucky, i let my players reroll. it tends to even out pretty well. ~Draco |
| arcady11-14-03, 01:12 AM | I always use the DMG's point buy system, with 28 points. |
| Robert rath11-14-03, 06:14 AM | We always use 4d6 drop the lowest reroll all ones. |
| Robert rath11-14-03, 06:15 AM | Unless we are rolling hero stats, in which case I have them roll 2d10 seven times for each stat |
| Mister Mayhem11-14-03, 07:47 AM | I usually use point buy, most recently for 30 points, but I think in future I will be using teh Elite Array, with 3 extra points to be placed whereever the player sees fits. |
| Edymnion11-14-03, 09:54 AM | Originally posted by Tenzhi I usually do point buy, but this next game I'm going to have them roll 2d6+6 and arrange to taste. Hum, thats pretty good. Garunteed minimum score of 8, normal max of 18, average score of 13. Hey, Mikey, he likes it! :D |
| KShaver11-14-03, 10:21 AM | Originally posted by arcady I always use the DMG's point buy system, with 28 points. We use varying points (anything 25-32 is fine), we currently have a 25 and a 28 point game going. I prefer points myself because I usually have an idea of what kind of character I want already and my rolls are umm, a bit unreliable. |
| diaglo11-14-03, 01:05 PM | 3d6 six times in order for stats.:D |
