| The Grig Fiddler03-20-06, 12:25 AM | I dont like odd/prime numbers. Thats why I have decided to give a bonus point at 1st level. 1 4 8 12 16 20 Thats six points making for a nice even 6, possible mod of 3. What do you guys think? |
| TheChilliGod03-20-06, 12:46 AM | Your reasoning behind this eludes me, but aside from that, the house rule shouldn't be any different from simply rolling better on regular ability die. Or for PB-users to sneak in bonus points. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. It shouldn't have too much of an effect on the game. |
| The Grig Fiddler03-20-06, 12:55 AM | Its OCD I dont like prime and odd numers I avoid them in every thing possible. Its stupid, but I cant help it. I was just wondering if people thought it might have too much of an effect. I really didnt think it would, but I respect most board member opinions. |
| Novacat03-20-06, 02:20 AM | If you were a vampire, then instead of pelting you with garlic, I'd yell, "3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29!" BTW, all prime numbers are also odd numbers, so there's really no need to mention both. |
| ArcTan03-20-06, 03:09 AM | If you were a vampire, then instead of pelting you with garlic, I'd yell, "3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29!" BTW, all prime numbers are also odd numbers, so there's really no need to mention both. He also presumably dislikes the number two. He also probably dislikes odd primes more than odd composite numbers -- numbers like 23 and 37 probably bug him a lot more than numbers like 15 and 33. |
| The Grig Fiddler03-20-06, 04:51 PM | Yeah thats actually true. |
| Rocketboy1303-20-06, 04:55 PM | Well what about the 7 feats you gain over the course of twenty levels, that is an prime number? |
| The Grig Fiddler03-20-06, 06:08 PM | Thats why im always human, but it doesnt matter I was just telling ChilliGod why I did it. What I was wondering is if anyone seen a problem with it. |
| Lina_Inverse03-20-06, 09:40 PM | WTF?! Dont like... Thats like me saying i dont like the letter A. Bucko, get over it. |
| DanjaNinja03-20-06, 10:08 PM | WTF?! Dont like... Thats like me saying i dont like the letter A. Bucko, get over it. It's not that simple. OCD isn't just a personality quirk--it's caused by brain structure abnormalities. Telling someone with OCD to "get over it" is tantamount to telling someone with a broken leg to "walk it off". |
| Ralphius_Maximus03-20-06, 10:37 PM | Back to the original question, it will have no impact on the gameplay, especially if you grant the same bonus to your NPC's. |
| Dragonteuthis03-20-06, 11:06 PM | Hmm. I'm curious now, how do you feel about the number 543,791? It might be prime. It might not be. I do know, but I'm not telling :P Does that bug you? |
| ChimericalWolf03-20-06, 11:12 PM | I can't stand the number 32. Makes me shiver just to look at it, and it drives me to distraction when the volume on a car stereo is set to 32. But I like odd better than even, and love primes. |
| The Grig Fiddler03-20-06, 11:19 PM | As I said earlier I dont like odd or prime numbers but when its a number like that it doesnt bother me. Its things that I am freqently presented with that bother me, but I had to find out about them and I did niether are prime. 543/3= 181 791/7=113. |
| doctorofjournalism03-20-06, 11:25 PM | hahaha, i always have to set my volume to odd numbers. if other people put it on evens, i dive for the console. heh, we're all so ****ed up :) |
| tpierce10403-21-06, 01:02 AM | I think everyone has some level of number quirks. I myself almost always set the volume on my CD player on a multiple of 5. For some reason it bugs me to have it anywhere else. (It goes from 1-25, so it's usually 15, 20 or 25, depending on outside noise, but rarely between those.) I have others, I think, but at the moment none of them are coming to me. The volume one only did because doctorofjournalism mentioned it. I do have some issues with symmetry though. I like everything to be symmetrical if possible (but don't freak out if it isn't)... It's kind of ironic, though, that I have only my left ear pierced. We're all weird. Dig it. |
