| Justin_Belmont08-18-05, 11:11 PM | Hello. I'm a newbie to 3rd edition. I have a Human Paladin that just leveled up. I know how to work the modifiers, but I cannot find the base scores for character's initiative combat bonuses. Can anyone give me a formula and/or direct me to a table in the 3rd Edition Player's Handbook? Thank you. |

| guru789208-18-05, 11:46 PM | basically, initiative never gets better, my human paliden(3rd level) (cause i have one) has an init. mod of 0 +0 for his dex on the other hand, the wizard in my group (also 3rd level) has an init modifier of +1. +1 dex now the druid in our group has an init mod of 4. +0 dex +4 improved init. but lets say i love to be first into combat... so i play as an elven ranger with a dex of 20, and take imporved init at the first level. i get: +5 dex +4 imporved init and a total of +9 for my intiative. *now with my luck, i'd roll a 1-7 on a d20 for init. EVERY TIME I WENT INTO COMBAT, because im unlucky like that. |
