I was just reading through the new Eberron campaign setting when I came to mention of Action Points. I could be in the dark, but I don't remember seeing anythin about them in the PHB. I have looked on these board and searched on Action AND Point, but haven't found any definitive answers. Can someone shed some light?

Specifically it was in the Extreme Explorer Prestige class:
Extreme Hustle (Ex): As a free action, the extreme explorer can spend 1 action point to gain a move action. He may only do this once per round.
Extreme Action (Ex): Any time the extreme explorer spends 1 action point to increase the result of a d20 roll, there is a chance that he will recover the action point. If the action is successful, and if the result of the action point roll is 8, the extreme explorer recovers the action point.

Action points are something new for that setting. Kind of like the stuff you see heros in the movies or books do, bend the rules a bit to do something heroic.

I have been doing something similiar wit hHero Points since 2ed.

Likely someone will be kind enough to link you to the ebberon preview wher ethey are detailed a bit.
