| whitishknight11-02-07, 12:53 AM | So I've recently heard that the Shalebridge Cradle level from Thief: Deadly Shadows is the terrifying video game experience. I found this article on it: http://gillen.cream.org/thecradle.pdf and it struck me that it might make a thrilling D&D adventure. Has this already been done, or does anyone have any advice on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

The creepiest thing in there was just being in there alone, never knowing what would lie behind the next corner. I'm also not sure how well that will translate into speech (by a DM) instead of pictures (on a screen). *scratches head* You'll have to be really, really good with your descriptions. ;) |

I played that level late at night with all the lights off, with the headphones on so as not to wake the wife up, and was on the edge of my seat the whole time! It would be hard to pull off that constant uneasy feeling that the asylum just radiates, but if you used background music, you could use the music and sounds from the Shalebridge Cradle level (or any sort of eerie, ambient type tracks), that would be a good start. I think that droning music and the random "noises" really made that level! |
